some gsp acceptees get great merit aid

really really? you just made my day. I can go to work with a smile on my face now. hope really is the thing. :)

I've met more dumb Sternies than dumb GSPers, so don't belive the stereotypes.

That's quite a bold statement... considering you got a 1280 on your SAT

why do you keep trying to start things? =/

wait a minute... your gpa does not transfer? so what is the incentive to do any work your first 2 years, besides for passing the class?

I didn't get any newsletter/mail (unlike everyone else) about this GSP thing. I applied to CAS, so does this seem good or bad for my application?

PS, I got 1390 on the SAT (1980 on the new one)

Is it THAT low?

Any opinions?

i dont know much about gsp. it sounds like a great program, i just think it's stoopid of kids at nyu to call gsp generally dumb people. generally stupid people works better. but it's still mean.

Would this somehow make him less intelligent? I know plenty of stupid people with high SATs and even more intelligent people with low SATs... One's capacity at taking standardized tests has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence.

That is correct, your GPA does not transfer. The incentive to do work is to meet the requirement of having a 3.0 to transfer schools.

No, but what is he basing his definition of "dumb" on? He is in Stern and I would like to know why he hasn't transferred to a better school, if he thinks his classmates are dumb.

hey hey *****! let's keep the testosterone level down.....

Is Stern better than University of Texas at Austin's business school?

A 1280 is not a bad SAT...however, it is not a 1400.

I had a 740v/570m...so, I really would not consider myself "dumb" by ANY means; however, my math score is the weak point in my package. Therefore, I think that was why I was accepted to GSP. My friend told me that most often it is a case like this, there is one element that is not up to Cas standards. Normally though, there is another facet of the person that exceeds their standards (essay, rec's, et cetera) that make them want you anyway.

Don't knock on gsp.

Seriously, it is an amazing opportunity and the second largest school in NYU. Do you really think people are all making fun of the second largest school? I've heard more bashing on these boards than anywhere else.

ultrajais u got a 1380 and still got into gsp only? Or did i read that wrong?

jaime - i think those two are pretty similar. i know in 2003-2004 they were tied for #5 in the us news rankings. i didnt apply for business school so i dont know much about either, but i live in texas and had a friend who just graduated from ut with an mba (both undergrad and grad @ ut) and she loved it. personally i dont know anyone who went to stern, but like i said, from what i hear they are quite comparable to each other. (except one costs a lot more than the other :D)

haha:) slight distinction there.

would it be complete madness to major in something like international relations during undergrad and then get a masters in business at grad school? I so don't understand how the system works....

track, you did not read it wrong

I got 1380 and got into gsp

I think NYU made decision on me before they got my january sat scores...

That is the only explanation for this...

Without my jan score, my sat is 1320

:( that's sort of disappointing. but you know, it happened for a reason. there's a reason why they didn't get it on time and that reason is somehow in your favor...:) someday you'll find out why....

but a 1340 and a 1320 are no different
