I'm depressed...is gsp for dumb ppl?

Let me clarify on the gpa thing:

You must maintain a 3.0 GPA while in GSP. This GPA includes GSP AND CAS courses, or whatever courses outside of GSP you will take during your 2 years in the program.

Although it isn't difficult to maintain a 3.0, don't take that to mean that you won't be pressed to do work and put out your best. Professors expect a lot from you.

Your grades from CAS courses taken in GSP DO COUNT. So if you get like a B- or a C+ (2.7 and 2.3 respectively), it does carry over. And it's never good to start "new" with a C+ on your transcript.

Technically, you "graduate" at the end of the program. You get a diploma and can attend commencement. Your "final transcript" is for those 2 years only. However, they keep the records on file for when you transfer, but they are never looked at again except for elective course grades.

All of this information was taken from my faculty advisor, except for point 4.

As far as my stats for getting into college were, i think i was ranked 40ish out of a class of 403. a bunch of awards and ec's, high up editor on the school paper, and a prolific high school speech and debate career (placed on national circuit, state, and a plethora of local tournaments, as well as qualified to cfl nats 2 years in a row). My downside: SAT score.

As far as "getting in" goes, most applicants (except those to the specialized programs, i.e. Tisch, Steinhardt, BUT NOT STERN) have very similar stats. What it really comes down to in the end is a) the uniqueness of the applicant and b) space. Unless you make a hefty donation to NYU, your chances of getting in are a crapshoot.

Oh, and ilovecalifornia, what is ironic about what you posted is that the majority of "dumb questions" are asked by smart people who want clarification on the issue at hand. Dumb people are too stupid to ask questions.

If you happen to end up attending NYU, I honestly hope you grow up and realize your own ignorance. Otherwise this city will eat you alive.
