I'm desperate to get in

FSU is my dream school. My mentor and one of my best friends is over there and loving it, and from everything I've seen it's the school for me. Unfortunately, I'm paying the price for my slacking off and emotional chaos now. I had posted something similar to this about college in general, but now I want to know specifically what I can do to get into FSU. I want to do everything I can this year to go to FSU. I will do whatever it takes. Can someone who knows FSU well help me out?

GPA: 2.9 (I know, it's bad...)

SATs: Taking Dec.1 - what should I be shooting for though? Should I also take ACTs?

ECs/Resume Info.:

Legal and Public Affairs Magnet
UDL Debate Team - Coach, Participant
Speech and Debate Class Teacher/Coach
Various Debate Awards
Take Stock In Children Scholar
Circolo Italiano (Trilingual - I'm putting out everything I can about me!)
Gnostic Church Seminarian (Their youngest)

Transcripts: They'll be horrified to see about three Fs and a few Ds and Cs... Will they look at all of these or just my FINAL grade for a class? Taking AP Comparative Govt./Politics, AP Micro/Macro Economics, and AP English Lit. Also taking some honors classes plus Legal Magnet classes.

Applying under CARE program, living with grandparents not parents although my parents are still my legal guardians (my mother and stepfather).

They just see the final grade for each class.
If you don't get in as a freshmen, you could start out at Tallahassee CC, work hard to get a good GPA and transfer in as a junior with your associates degree.

I think you should take the SAT as well as the ACT. They are totally different tests and some students do particularly well on one compared to the other. The ACT does not penalyze you for guessing where as the SAT does. SAT is set up more to gauge potential where as the ACT tests more of what you know. As far as shooting for a score, my suggestion is to do your best to make the best score that you can.

I will take both. I like the TCC idea. If I'm not accepted (and my odds look very bad) I'm going to go to TCC and after two years transfer to FSU.

that sounds like a good plan. I hope you get in to FSU. It really sounds like you would add a lot to the FSU campus community.

Good Luck!
