i'm doubting whether cornell is worth it

chochocho, why do u believe that?

i intend to go into engineering

The quality of education @ Berkeley is nothing near that of Cornell, especially if you go for an impacted major.

How can you substantiate that claim?

Penn (and all other Northeast school) students from California (particularly SoCal) get bummed out around wintertime.

They're just wussier in Cali. grow a pair, Californians. It's called "snow"

Yeah, I could say the same thing about my East Coast friends whining like babies during earthquakes, but I won't.

Ooops, I already did. :p

i already got a pair and i like them thawed.

i've been checking weather every week or so for cornell. it raining way too often.

This has been a rainey couple of in ithaca and across the ENTIRE NORTH EAST. From August 19 through fall break, there were no approximately 5 cloudy days including 3 rainy ones here in Ithaca. The extensive drought across the region that has been ongoing since at least the beginning of summer is now breaking.

evanescenteuphoria, you don't sound at all like a good candidate for ED. You should just apply to Cornell RD, if you apply at all. The entire northeast (including Boston/cambridge) has less than ideal weather (cold, snow, rain), especially for someone coming from California.

? how can you tell her chances for ED when she hasn't given you her stats? is it just from evanescenteuphoria's preference of location?

Yes. I believe OP is a poor binding ED candidate because of the quality of life concerns (weather) raised, financial aid considerations, and sheer uncertainty about Cornell.

people, do not thing the rain is an isolated Ithaca event. I did a bike race last weekend at Brown and Harvard - both cities also had crappy weather, it's the same across the entire east coast.

He's not saying chances. ED is about commitment and match in addition to probability of acceptance.

You are a good ED candidate if:
1. You statistics are in or above the ballpark of other students applying.
AND
2. The school is your top or one of your choices
AND
3. Your environmental, social, and atmospheric wishes are fulfilled by the school.
