I'm dumb, but I need help

So I'm registered to go to UCSB, but I don't want to leave LA anymore. I live real close to LMU and would rather go there. They offered me a lot of aid and if I don't dorm I'll actually have a 7k surplus of money. If not, it'll be 7k out of the pocket, which isn't possible.

There wouldn't be any way to switch at this point, huh? I'm going to try and stop by tomorrow, but I have low hopes.

First, you are not dumb. You do need to make sure you are making this decision for the right reasons.

I would caution you to think long and hard about this. There was a reason you chose UCSB over LMU. What has changed that makes you want to stay? Is this something that is permanent? If you do this, you are breaking all ties with UCSB and have to understand that you can not look back.

Where are you going to go tomorrow? LMU? Are you trying to see if the aid package that was offered in April(?) is still available? You might start by looking at your aid package and see if there was a date listed that you had to respond by. Either way, if you feel this strongly then do call. If they haven’t filled all slots then they may accept you. You will need an end of the year transcript from your hs (remember, one was never sent because it was sent to UCSB).

Regarding UCSB, I believe you simply loose all deposits you have made thus far, contacting admissions and let them know your plans.

I chose UCSB because it was a bit cheaper and I didn’t want to go to a “catholic school” since I had a horrible experience from 1st-8th in the catholic system (horrible education). However, I realized after visiting SB for the 3rd time and after making plans to buy amtrak tickets back to LA every thursday night that my heart is and will forever be in this city.

So we spoke to LMU, they said I’m on a special waiting list (they really really wanted me in the first place since I had a great app). They will try to get us 4 into the school by next week and possibly offer the same aid package too. So its just a waiting game now.

My hs is closed, but LMU said they can request everything from UCSB including the transcript.

I never made deposits at SB, I deferred them until I pay my tuition.

LMU may not give you the same amount of aid if you don’t live on campus, so look closely at their package.
