Okay, here's the situation:

I'm applying to Georgetown, which requires an interview. I just got the email today asking me to set one up and I was so shocked bc I had no clue they had such a requirement. I have never interviewed before and I am soooo stressed right now. (I've been reading the interview threads and all, btw.)

I see myself as pretty average, not a real overachiever. I come from a farm town in the middle of nowhere, and I'm taking more APs than anyone else btw. About 20% of students from my HS go to a 4-yr college, so it's pitiful. Anyway, can I possibly expect to be admitted to GTown?? It's not even my first choice!! (Vandy is) or should I cancel the app and forget about it? (remember I have to interview)

ACT Score: 31
GPA: 3.89 UW

Junior yr APs: Gov (4) and Lang (3)
Senior yr APs: Comp. Gov (self-study), Lit, Macro, Micro, Calc AB - 7 by the end of the yr

ECs: Pitiful
Key Club (just a member, but I'm pretty dedicated) - 10, 11, 12
NHS member - 11, 12
Team Captain of Quiz Bowl Team - 11, 12

Honor roll and crap like that...Also awards from Quiz Bowl that will be reported on the Common App
P.S.: This is my first post! Yay for me

Yes, they want kids from every corner and an Iowa farm will make you of interest.

Yeah, I don’t actually live on a farm though…The reason I’m so worried about not being qualified for admission are my miserable ECs. Please help me in my dilemma somebody.

gtown is definitely a reach but its still possible. take the interview because turning one down will severely hurt your chances (thats what ive heard from others). might as well try though and good luck for it. they’re pretty casual but u need to be well dressed and just expect typical questions like what doyou like/why gtown/ strengths and weaknesses etc

By the way, I live about 45 mins away from the alumna I am supposed to be interviewed by. We are actually busy the next 2 weekends, and I don’t have a car (my parents could drive me I guess). Can I actually get out of the interview (I really am busy and far away)? The GU website says: “If you live in a city/country where no alumni interviewers are available, the interview will be waived.”

But it is available- they dug up an alum to interview you. Make every effort to go, IMHO.
