I'm getting depressed

I am ready to say F UC Davis also… Usually it accepts around 70% and if you have over a 3.3 you’re probabaly going to get in. Looking at CC here I am seeing people with 4.0’s and great stats still on hold. I would expect this from CAL and UCLA, but really… Davis? I applied to UCD’s largest transfer major ,econ, and have well over a 3.5 and still waiting. They better be planning an awesome suprise party for all of us or I’m going to be hella cranky!

I’m with you. We’re waiting for UCD and UCSB, rejected at UCSC. Pretty good stats (3.6 at an OOS university, honors college) and a history major. Advisor at UCD said the one math class taken was OK, but starting to wonder. If not accepted at UCD, seems like grounds for appeal, since we still have a copy of the email conversation regarding prerequisites?
SOOOOO frustrating to wait, checking “myadmissions” over and over again. A common notification day would be a great idea!

no offense but why are you doing this, your kid is presumably a grown up? are you one of those helicopter moms i’ve heard about?

chesserforlife- if i knew why i got rejected from UCSC i’d be a little bit relieved myself. but i have no idea. all preq completed. igetce will be finished. i have no idea what their problem was.

I’m not doing any of this FOR him, just waiting it out and standing by for support. He is miserable OOS and is getting pretty depressed waiting for Davis to make up its mind. In a weird way it’s at least comforting to see that not everyone else has a decision yet. He was accepted at 5 UC’s out of HS, and is worried that he got poor information about math transferability from the advisor at UCD when he was planning his schedule last year.
CC was a good resource years ago when he was applying originally-- I figured it would be a good source of info again now.

“Advisor at UCD said the one math class taken was OK, but starting to wonder. If not accepted at UCD, seems like grounds for appeal, since we still have a copy of the email conversation regarding prerequisites?”

Willsmom, you will not get an appeal based only on some advice from a UC Davis advisor by means of e-mail. That is ridiculous.

Your kid hasn’t even been rejected/accepted yet…calm down

If your son is a transfer student one semester of math which is college algebra is the only pre-req thats mandatory for him to take. Unfortunately that’s only for general ed. If your son declared a major when he applied thats a whole different story since some majors expect you to take more math.

Baller, now this is very worrying. can you please e-mail me that rejection? this is completely unbelieveble. I am not in your situation for now but this worries me since I applied for UCLA and it’s harder. what in the hell is UCSC thinking? You must be livid I can suppose. your saying IGETC will be finished by this spring right? and major prereqs have been so? what in the hell is wrong with them? It’s not even that strict. 3.7 GPA, ive seen people from berkely and ucla get in with that and don’t tell me that with TAP, I ve seen some without it get in as long as you do what the say and the major is oright. which leads me to that question, what is your major? Please speak with some official or file a petition immediately I think they were on drugs in rejecting you. Let me know what you will do. best of luck

maybe they’re doing the admission cutts in not as competitive schools… like sjsu, sdsu, ucsc, and all such schools… coz admission cutts in schools liks ucsd, ucla, ucb wouldn’t be good… idk just an assumption that i have… since all the UC’s and CSU’s are california state schools… =/

peppamintt I heard the same thing last week. But here’s the thing, what happens to the people who just applied to the not so competitive schools they are left with no university? Last year I was hearing that UCLA and CAL wants more students, let’s see if it’s true. best of luck to you

not left with no schools… there’s still a lot of choices, bu i guess they want students to take the cc route to better schools imguessing… since cc transfer rate is so high and they are pushing it more…

there are a lot of things to be depressed about in life like even if you did get accepted, like would you find a job after you graduate, theres worse, but if you want you could stay another year and pad that gpa for real

peppamintt wait, the UCSC guy who got rejected 3.7 was a high school student? I thought he was transfer. I am asking for transfer rejections from UCSC and who went to CC for 2 years

i have no idea… im just giving my opinion
