Token, by saying you're black, which is something I'm sure you're definitely proud of, you give some of the purely racist *******s on this website opportunitities to utter craziness - "ur black so ur in." Since when did being black guarantee college admission? Oh, I get it. Since the legacy of slavery has made one group of people in the U.S. advantaged over blacks 20 times over, that's when it was decided that, just maybe, a black person may be able to succeed at college if given the opportunity.

This ^ was probably one of the least thought out, least intelligent, extremely pointless rants I’ve been privileged to hear in quite some while. If you’re the individual who wrote it- please take the time to read what you posted, giving yourself the opportunity to realize that it made absolutely no sense whatsoever. If someone is going to attention whore by shouting about ‘racism this, racism that’, then what’s coming out of their mouth - so to speak - had damn-well better make some sort of legitimate point. Wake up, this is the 21st Century: you’d be hard pressed - especially on a website devoted to education, of all things - to find someone who really believes that members of a certain race make for inferior students (or human beings).

The reason these posters said what they did is because application to a school like Penn is a difficult process. Anything that can separate you from the applicant pool and cause you to stand out will give you a leg up. When an admissions committee is given the task of trying to separate this one excellent student from a pool of 5 or even 10 other excellent students, then something like race, sex, or geography can play a huge and often deciding role. If you don’t realize this, you are either a huge tool, or wildly naive.

That said, Sammy will be just fine.

dear god this thread is deader than anna nicole

Maybe you should switch who you’re trying to bait because you can’t tell me anything about anything, particularly about racial issues. Before you attack someone, you should understand who you’re attacking. I’m at UPenn, just moved in yesterday, and I have more to worry about than some ******* who talks cyber-craziness. Have fun.

You have “better things to worry about”? Is that why you’re ■■■■■■■■ around an internet forum, tossing poorly constructed insults at people?

But you’re probably right: no one can tell someone like you anything- you’re above all of that. “Ahaha, I go to Penn boys! Collars up!”

Smart AND classy. Your school dug up a gem.

And I’m loving every minute of it. And no, a a cyber-antagonist like you cannot tell me anything. Any comment on this forum that suggests “ur black so ur in” or anything of that nature is plain dumb and racists. If that comment makes any sense at all than I’m wrong and you’re right and I’ll let you tell me about how the world turns, if you have the intellectual fortitude.

I agree with datdude on the point that one’s race doesn’t make that much of a difference when it comes to admission. Of course, being a URM helps, but not as much as people think.

everyone just b quiet and the thread will end. enough has been said!!!

AA sux ass…Discrimination is often defined as judging someone based on anything other than individual merit. I’m Asian, I’ve got (relative) merit. So what the hell? W T F is wrong with admissions in this country? Why the hell can’t I get into a top school? Just b/c there are too many other people like me? Because I was born with brown skin and the drive to do great things? What kind of sense is there in accepting compartively inadequate black/hispanic applicants over me (or other people like me)? AA sux. Congratulations to the fools who are able to utilize it b/c of their skin color. <end rant=“”> I actually just wanted to bump this thread to p i s s people off and keep it bumped with responses to my trollish post…yeah, I’m an ass…sue me…hehe :)</end>

EDIT: Why is ‘w t f’ and ‘p i s s’ censored and not ass? That’s mad weird…

wow, and here i am thinking CC people r smart. i’m not going to stop until i see teh post die!!! and premedftw. u need help…

I didn’t expect you of all people to bump it…wth is wrong with you? You want the thread dead, so why’re you bumping it?..And yeah, I’m an ass (I don’t deny it); but if I need help, so does half the people who post regularly on the UPenn board: mengcheng…JohnnyK…etc…f-ing freaks, like they’re high on crack or something.
