I'm Going to Fail My 1st Semester (Some Venting too)

Thanks romanigypsyeyes. Really appreciate it. I’m very sorry to hear about your BIL… Must’ve been very tough for your entire family…

Indeed it was. Still is, 5 years later :(. I hope your brother comes home safe and this war ends soon.

good luck buddy.

I’m very sorry to hear… Must’ve been one of the first to deploy also unfortunately… Thanks to soldiers like him, it allowed future soldiers like my brother to have an easier arrival. May he rest in peace… I hope so too that he comes home safe also but has another 6 months left on his deployment.

Ugh, 6 months is a long time to wait. Any amount of time is a long time to wait.

And yes, he was one of the first (I believe the third Michigan death, when the crazies were still protesting at funerals… his was one of them).

OP, go to the counseling center as soon as possible and also meet with your academic advisor. Explain what happened. If you don’t know exactly what happened . . . tell them that. Can you think of anything specific that led to this? Too much drinking/partying? Stress? Depression? Why are you failing the classes–missing assignments, missing tests, both?

Also, talk with your professors, explain the circumstances, and ask if there’s any way you can get a passing grade. Doing extra credit? Making up an exam? I will tell you a secret: a lot of professors put “absolutely NO make ups EVER EVER” on their syllabi, but some of them don’t mean it. Some of them will make an exception if they sympathize with you and feel like you are really making an effort. (And some won’t . . . but it never hurts to ask.)

Hang in there! If you do have to leave school, remember it isn’t the end of the world. Whether you leave or not, focus on figuring out what went wrong so you don’t fall into the same pattern. Take responsibility for your actions, but at the same time don’t spend every minute feeling bad and chastising yourself . . . That doesn’t do anyone any good. This too shall pass.

Also dude, if it’s any consolation, I’m definitely going to fail two of my four classes.

Damn really? I’m really sorry to hear that those people protested during your BIL’s funeral… Stupid WBC…

I don’t think it was WBC, I don’t think they ever actually made it up to Michigan. But now there’s a law in Michigan and many other states that prohibits protests and funerals (good riddance!)

That really is necessary though. Especially for funerals of soldiers who gave their life while serving their country… It’s really disappointing to see that…

I agree. I can’t believe that any one would ever need a law to prevent people from protesting at funerals. Seriously people, what the …? Do you really hate America and humanity so much that you would rub salt into the wounds of family members? “God hates America.” Give me a break! If God hates America so much, then why oh WHY would someone want to live here?

I have a deep, deep hatred for WBC. They are everything that’s wrong with Christianity rolled up in one. I hope the Devil has a nice place in Hell for them (I don’t even believe in Hell but if a group of people ever deserved to go there, these people would be in my top 5). They make life hell for people like me, not just because I have military family but for their explicit main reason for existence.

Rant over.

I totally agree with you about the WBC. However, in my opinion they should be exterminated …

I know that they’re protected by free speech, but I think we need an amendment that protects those who beat the hell out of WBCers.

They also protested a bunch of schools in the DC area a few weeks ago, including mine. Funny though, they had like 4 people picketing at my school and a bunch of students formed a counter protest. It was like 80 students against four radical morons :)

There’s no point in arguing with them though. Their fanaticism is exceeded only by that of groups like al-Qaeda. The only defense against them is to either ignore them or kill them, and the second one isn’t legal (at least not in the US…)

I think it just makes me literally sick to know that there are people out there who are indoctrinating their children into their sick and twisted cult. They are breeding hatred into future generations. It’s times like this that I wish the gene pool had a lifeguard…

To be honest, I wasn’t exactly sure what the WBC was.

I just read a wiki article on them, and now I feel like throwing up…

If I were ever to encounter them, I would yell homosexual slurs at them. The irony would probably eat them alive.

What is this…

Insightful and though provoking response there.

Dude if you’re failing apparently it’s someone else that’s failing you. You should sue the school for sexual harassment
