I'm going to Harvard, right?

JK.

There’s no way in the world that would ever happen (not that I want it to anyway).

In all seriousness though…

GPA: It isn’t calculated yet (not until the end of this year), but it’s between a 3.1 and 3.4
Rank: Again, not calculated yet, but probably in the top 20-30% of my class.
Scores: 20-something on the PLAN, 175 on PSAT, will take ACT in June.
Classes through this year: (All honors except for math) - Global History 1 and 2, US History, English 9-11, earth science, bio, chem, physics, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, theater, French 1-3.
EC: Afro/Latino Club, Girl Scouts, Link Crew, dance, choir, theater, track, Key Club.
Classes for next year: AP (Stats, Lit, Bio), honors (gov, econ), African American History, health.
Hopeful major: Nursing.

Schools I want to get into (ranked from 1st choice to last choice):

Temple University.

Howard University.

SUNY Buffalo.

SUNY Binghamton.

Cornell.

SUNY Stony Brook.

Chances at all of these places? Oh, and by the way, my mom works at Cornell, both my brothers attended Cornell, and, insane numbers of people from my school get into Cornell even if they’re under qualified because of parents working there and my school is practically a feeder school…This year, about a quarter of the senior class got accepted. Also, I don’t actually want to get accepted at Cornell, I want to get a GT in case I don’t like wherever

Oh, I forgot some stuff.

Race: African American.
Siblings in college: 1, although after that it could be 2.
From: Upstate NY.

you’ll get into everywhere

get some leadership positions in the ec’s

Link Crew is leadership. It’s a program in which upperclassmen get groups of freshman to watch over and help throughout the entire year. My label is Link Crew Leader. Also, I assist in ballet classes with little kids, and have worked at a daycare. I’m also the secretary of Afro/Latino Club.

cornell is a high reach. All the others are matches or safeties.

score and statistics wise, a top-notch school like Cornell would want to see more competitiveness. if its true that your school sends many kids to Cornell, it should be easier, especially with a working parent. the other schools sound like solid matches.

Yes, my school does send insane number of people to CU, mostly because so many people at my school have at least one parent that works there. My mom told me she think I’d get in because my grades and scores are fine and I’m a faculty brat…But as I said, I don’t actually want to get in. I want to get GT, and according to my mom, if you’re a faculty brat and they don’t accept you, you automatically get GT unless you have terrible stats. She probably knows too…She’s been working for Cornell for over 20 years.

Also, which schools are matches and which are safeties?

I have the ultimate work/EC sheet (I’m pretty sure it beats just about everyone’s), about a 3.3 and didn’t get accepted to Temple, which was def a safety since they’re looking for a 3.0. Howard should be easy to get into. Buffalo should be also. Are you ny state?

Yeah, I’m from NY.

all of those except cornell.

Can I get GT at Cornell? I don’t even actually want to get in…That would be bad. According to my mom, if I don’t get in, I’ll get GT, but what do you guys think?

“according to my mom..”
“according to my mom..”
“according to my mom..”

..You need to find a better source, sweetheart.

I think not.

I live in Ithaca, my mom’s a professor at Cornell. People from my school get into Cornell solely because they have decent grades and their parents work there…Most don’t actually deserve to.

Don’t go to college in the town/city you live in.

I still doubt you’d get into Cornell. A 3.2 and a 1750 on the SAT are not great.

Well, your scores are not terrific, but you’ll probably get in most places but Cornell. Oh, and my dad went to Stony Brook ^^
