So I submitted an application to a school on Dec. 31 and I definitely thought I had a shot....until I got a booklet from the university in the mail today.

I was flipping through the pages and, just out of curiosity, I decided to read the admissions requirements, only to find that the school requires 2 SAT subject tests in addition to your SAT reasoning/ACt + writing. I've taken ZERO subject tests, and it's jan. 12.

Will I not be considered for admission? this is terrible. i'm in panic mode right now. HELP!

check out their website and see if they “require” SAT II, or recommend SAT II. And as cardgames suggested, determine if they will take jan SAT II scores. Sorry for that. Did you apply by common ap, and did it not tell you that?

vlines: Yes, I applied using CommonApp, and it never told me anything about requiring SAT II scores, which I think is irresponsible on their part. I mean, I know it’s my responsibility to check the requirements, but I feel like they should have it so that you cannot submit your application unless you input SAT II scores.

vlines & cardgames: I just checked and they don’t explicitly say that they WON’T accept jan. SAT II scores, but they do say to submit the application and supplement by Jan. 1 as well as all other required documents…does that mean i cant take it now?

rebeccar: they say that you need the ACT w/writing (which is what i submitted) AND 2 SAT IIs :(

Well, unfortunately, the Common Application is often sent to multiple schools, whose standardize testing policies can vary, so I believe that’s why they don’t warn you about the testing requirements. You still need to send an official score report from the College Board, anyway.

Most schools accept January testing, even if they do not explicitly state that they do on their website, so I would definitely call the school’s admissions office as soon as you can and ask whether or not they’ll accept them. If they do, sign up to take two or three SAT II tests on January 28 immediately. Try not to panic.

Email admissions for the best answer. It varies from school to school. I applied to my EA school a day late and got accepted (by “a day” it was really just five minutes past midnight…but still!). If you tell them how much the school means to you they will probably let you take the tests in January. Chances are they haven’t even glanced at your app yet, so getting scores late wouldn’t matter that much.
