I'm going to UCSD because...

It's a joke. Calm down people.

I turned down cal, wesleyan, and usc for sd. i'm pretty sure that I would have a happier undergrad life at ucsd.

is neuroscience at uscd good? as good as cal or usc?

The neurosciences grad program has been said to be among the best in the country. Not if Cal/USC are that high, though I've heard Cal is up there too.

EDIT: After doing some Googling, UCSD has been ranked #1 by multiple sources. It clearly has an oustanding reputation in that field, along with Harvard, John Hopkins, and the usual.

Just get juiced already!!! Quit dwelling on schools you didn't get into and start loving the school you did get into!!!!!

that's what she said

How does University of creepy science nerds sound to u guyz..?

less derogatory perhaps?

I didn't make up the University of California of the Socially Dead acronym, it's been around for years. I think yours is UCSN....?

but does that reputation have anything to do with undergrad? i mean, as an undergrad, do i get any of those benefits?

while superior grad programs don't necessarily mean superior undergrad programs, a good grad program has excellent professors and grad students. most professors teach undergraduate courses so you'll have the opportunity to be in their classes. your TAs will usually be grad students so you might want them to know what they're doing. of course brilliance doesn't always mean they're good teachers. you also tend to get more research opportunities/ networking with better programs

better to be socially dead and next to a huge city and the beach then live in the middle of farmlands and have it smell like cows i think. too bad theres no acronym for that.

"Anyone have any silly UCSD acronyms I can add to my profile?"

UC Davis

University of Cow Dung

i don't know why everyone thinks davis is swimming in cows. davis is my hometown (well, my most recent one, anyway) and i swear i've never seen more than 2 cows. and they were both for research purposes or something. but here's a little less well-known fact: ucd has a bunch of llamas!! how cool is that?!

UCSD - University of California Whale's Vagina.... thank you will ferrell

well... technically its not an acronym

cenire, that's not cool at all.

you must have been in a very, very isolated pocket of davis if you've only seen 2 cows. compared to any other college in the state, davis IS swimming in them.

i was there interviewing last spring and snapped a few pictures while walking from the football field to the biology building -- voila, cows next to dorms. must be nice in the summer.

Picasa Web Albums - chris - UC Davis bovi...

nuthin wrong with cows.. they make good milk, and even better steak.

That would suck. I would never go to davis.

Good thing we're going to UC Socially Dead rather than the Stupid Drug Smuggling University to the south of us. Instead of just being hopelessly bored, we could have been hopelessly bored while in jail. Dozens of college students in drug bust - Crime & courts - MSNBC.com

seriously, what's with the hate? what's wrong with cows? and llamas?

cows are smelly, better suited for harris ranch than the middle of a university campus, and it seems cruel to keep llamas in the stifling heat that is the sacramento valley summer.

PS -- residents of the sacramento area take the "cowtown" label in stride, they don't actually deny it. for proof, check out video clips of fans swinging cowbells at kings games :)
