The main dining centers are Danforth, The Pit (Wilson Commons), Douglass, and the Meliora. And I guess you can get a meal at Hillside, but I usually just go there for a smoothie. Danforth is a dining center in SueB res. hall. I think it's disgusting, though I'm sure some SueB people will disagree. The Pit is extremely unhealthy, but a convenient location for people living on the Quad. I also think it tastes better than Danforth. Douglass is said to be like the best food ever or something. It's OK. It's not open on the weekends. Supposedly their pasta is super awesome or something, but I haven't gotten it yet, the lines take forever. Meliora is very good food, but also expensive. It's not clubbable, and it's like $10-20 or something for a meal (lunch) or $20 for dinner. It's open from 11am-2pm during the week for lunch, and it's open once a month for dinner by reservation. Hillside I guess you can get pizza, salad, cereal, etc. as a meal. But it's really a caf

Only SueB has dining in the building. However, neither Gilbert nor Hoeing are too far from SueB (Danforth) or from Wilson Commons. Maybe a 3 minute walk.

Chedva touched on something that is spot on -- other than the Hill Court dorms and the infamous Park Lot most buildings on the River Campus are not that far a schlep. You can deal!!!

To reinforce last two posts: campus is very compact. Tunnels make quad buildings even easier to travel between.

Daughter in Gilbert eats primarily at Danforth for the selection and chance at something quasi-healthy. She says menu at Wilson and Douglass doesn't vary much from day to day, but likes what she gets at Danforth.

FWIW, she's downgrading her meal plan for semester 2 because she doesn't feel it's worth wasting a club meal for a light breakfast of a bagel and juice, for example. She has breaksfast often in her room. So she's lowering her club meals and upping her declining dollars.

okay. as someone who lives in sue b and loves it, i feel that i should put in my two cents too.
honestly, i think that sue b has a better sense of community than if you live on the quad. sue b kids are sue b kids and i feel like i have friends on different halls and floors of the building, which i really like. the core, which is the large area by the elevators in the middle of the X shaped building, is realy really nice to have, especially if you feel like talking with a bunch of people at 2am or something. whereas if you live in gilbert or hoeing, i've found that when i'm with my friends in those lounges, becuase they're closer to the rooms, you can't make as much noise. i absolutely LOVE having danforth, but especially hillside in sue b. the weather hasn't been too bad yet, but when it's pooring or you are up until 2am studying and just want somehting to eat, it's so nice just to be able to go downstairs and grab some food without having to go outside. in terms of distance from things... i personally think it's a more central location. it's closer to the library and ITS, close to the gym, and upperclassmen housing in phase and towers, which is nice if you have friends who live there. so basically, i love sue b haha. i don't really mind the smaller rooms... we make it work. soooo yeah, sue b! :)

In response to the questions about Gilbert not having a dining hall: people from Gilbert sometimes go to Hillside at night, and if they want food late at night they can just go to Wilson commons, which isn't even a 3 minute walk, maybe if you require a cane, it is. Besides that, a lot of people go to Wegman's on Saturdays or Sundays and cook a fair amount during the week in the kitchens (there's two per floor, I believe, and I don't know what the kitchen situation is on the first floor).

and sometimes people hang out and chat in the hallways. usually it's in one of the lounges or in various people's rooms. and there are also 4 non-freshman buildings on the quad where tons of upperclassmen live... and that housing is generally preferential to towers.

Ok...
I think people complain way too much about dining services here. Of course it's not like home. I personally do have mixed feelings about dining, but I think Danforth is a fine place to eat; I normally don't go over there since I live on the quad and you end up spending more time at Danforth than you would other places. It's all about what your preferences are with food. The Pit is fine for on the go stuff. I normally always grab a salad to go....the only time the salads are bad are on the weekends.
For housing, it will definitely be limited; especially if you are coming this spring. Next fall, the apartments across the river will be open and there may be less freshmen triples. The rooms aren't that small; they are in fact larger than at many other universities. This year they took out all the wall to wall storage space in Sue B, so there is more room since they put in quad furniture.
I'm currently a junior and am living in a double....it's really not bad. However, once you start getting involved on campus and if you are a library studier, then you will probably not spend a lot of time in your room anyway. At least I don't....I come home to sleep and it's home base on the weekends.
The closest thing to a "college town" right now is Park Ave which is off the Red bus line near Eastman. I don't go there much, even though I do have my car on campus. President Seligman is trying to re-vamp areas across the rive to make it more into a college town, but he is currently out of office due to lymphoma.
I'm sorry to make it such a long reply....
For night life....this is not a Friday campus. My roommate and I do our fair share of partying....it's both accepted if you do or don't...for the most part. Parties do not really happen on Fridays. The most you would do is probably just hang out with friends. Saturdays are when the crazy parties are; and it's normally on the FQ (frat quad) where one or 2 will be open. Most other nights you'll find people on a date with Mr. Rush Rhees (in the library) where it does get really crowded.
Jeez...that was a really long reply, but I hope that it answers questions.
Also, just remember....college seems like such a big thing now...but remember to relax....

Thanks. All replies were extremely helpful.

Currently I'm looking at the class schedule. Most of my classes that I want are in yellow...meaning they are on hold. I don't think they are full, since my advisor said that registration would begin on the 19th.

So what's up with that?

Also they require a PIN #, is contacting the professor the way to get the PIN?

Also has anyone taken CAS:105 - Comic books, or Outlaws of Heroes, or any recommendations of a CAS:105 class?
