yah so i just got 14/53 on MC part of the practice test from the barron's book. im screwed unless i pull off straight 9's on the essays which will just barely get me a 3. Why is that crap so hard?

because the CB doesn't like us... I am worried too... apparently it is easier than the barron's book? (I hope!!) just study and we will do okay, right...
hey! you wanna study together??
go not failing the AP!!

it's easier than the barron's book, relax & study in moderation.

I don't know either though....I took two past exams and was barely getting like 28/54, so I don't think Barron's difficulty is that much different. It also depends on the passages also, I guess.

Are you serious? The AP Lang. & Comp. test is the only one I feel confident about right now...I need to read a lot more for APUSH, and I can tell you right now that I am screwed for Bio. and Spanish.

shh, mcz...people are good at different things.
I suppose since the test is tomorow the best thing to do now is calm down, eat well, get lots of sleep and try not to stress out so much. You will do better on the exam that way. Also, eat chocolate that morning...mmmm

Confident about AP Eng Lang. & Comp. too. SO SCREWED FOR AP CALC AB AND APUSH!! ahhhh HELP ME.

Out of the prep book I am using (I forgot the company) first I got a 30/54 for the multiple choice then I got a 13/54 on the next one. Go figure...

I find I always do awful on prep tests (real awful). But I end off succeeding on the real thing. Maybe its because I always get pumped beyond belief for the real thing (its adrenaline baby).

Anyways good luck tomorrow everybody. Don't get to nervous, I mean its only an AP Test ;).

I just took another practice test this morning and got 22/53 and gave myself a 7, 6 and 5 on my 3 essays and I pulled off a 72.8133 for my composite score. You need a 72 to pass, so I just made the cut. So I think I can pass. I am a good essay writer when I wanna be but I suck at MC. Do I suck, or is the MC jus hard? Like do ppl actually get 22/53, or even lower?

what raw score do you need to get a 4? and for a 5?
Also, does anyone know the formula for calculating the composite score?
For every prep book i've looked at the formula is different. for example, in the Kaplan book, it is (MC raw score)1.296 + (total essay score)2.933.
So the highest would be 541.296 + 272.933 = 149. The book says a score of 114 is the cutoff for a 5, but I find it hard to believe since that would mean you need 77%. For all the other tests it seems like 65% is the cutoff for a 5.

I got the one used by collegeboard from my teacher
It goes like this
M/C~(Right-.25Wrong) * 1.2500
Essay~ Score 1 3.5556 (sth close to that)+ Score 2 3.5556+ Score 33.5556= Total essay grade.
Add M/C and Essay. I think a 72 is a passing. Didn't checK out the rest but this is a really generous curve, I think.

I am concerned on all of my tests. Especially this one. AP Eng Language MC should be easier. For some of the practice tests, the passages just frighten me. Kaplan - These passages are huge. If i read it thoroughly for understanding it would take me 5-8 mins. But when I skim, i do comparatively better because the important stuff stays in my head. These tests intimidated me, but I ended up receving around 35+/50 on each.
Cliffs- The passages are a bit smaller, but some are difficult to understand. A few of my tests i differed from 39/57 and then on the next i recieved 34/56.
Princeton- The test seemed to be around the same size as kaplan. The MC were around the same level.
I better get atleast a 3 because i took so many darn practice tests. I wish AP's give you a nicer curve. =/. Tomorrow is the test. Goodluck. Hopefully i do well! im taking my 8th MC test.

It varies year from year, but I know the 1996 test weightings:

MC:

Section I : MC:
number correct - (.25 x number wrong, NOT counting blanks) = MC Score (round to nearest whole number. If less than zero, enter zero.)

Section II: Free-Response:
Essay grade 1 (0-9) + essay 2 (0-9) + essay 3 (0-9) = Free Response Score

Composite Score:

1.2980 X MC Score = Weighted Section I (Do not round.)
3.0556 X Free-Response Score = Weighted Section II Score (Do not round.)

Weighted Section I Score + Weighted Section II Score = Composite Score ( Round to nearest whole number.)

Then apply the composite score to the curve, and you get your AP Exam Grade (0-5).

I have the Cliffs book.
took the MC on a practice test - 38/57 right.

didn't have time to write the essays - gave myself 5 on each.
got like 10 composite points below a 4.

if I get a 6 average for the essay, then I will have a 4.

I'll be happy w/ a 3 though.

uhh ive been getting like 15/54 on the mc's too i feel screwed...sad part is im not feeling confident about ANY of my aps!
