Hey guys,

I have done GCSE "O" and "A" level, which in some ways is a whole lot differnt than American highschool.

In the common application ,there are questions such as ,

what courses did u take in highschool ,how many semesters ,etc.

My point is that GCSE is very differnt than highschool,

O and A level, doesnt have any credit hours, semesters .etc. Its basically a certificate showing that a student has graduated secondary education and higer education.

Can anybody please give me any information regarding my problem?

SHould i contact the university that I'm applying to ,regarding this issue??

You must have learned the material somehow. If you were homeschooled as I suspect you’re implying, the common app has a supplement for homeschooled students; you just leave the high school information blank.

No i haven’t been homeschooled.
I went to a school, but outside USA.

Actually what i mean is , that GCSE is a UK system of education. The exams are taken annually. So there aren’t any credit hours or anything, and their aren’t any semesters either.

In the common applicatoin, its basically asking about the courses taken, credit hours, AP/IB??But since I’ve done gcse, how can i provide such information which is totally different?

I’ve been pondering over this issue for days :(

Just fill in the courses then, and ignore the rest. There’s an international supplement as well, which you’ll need to submit.

Thanks
but I am a US citizen , i mean i have citizenship. So I am applying as a national student.

by the way,
if i ignore the rest. and just write the subjects I’ve studied .(physics,maths,etc.etc)
Then universities wouldn’t know in detail about my studies am i right ?

I think i should better contact the universities themselves , for this sort of information, don’t u think so? :P

If you are ever in doubt about how to best fill in the information on the application, I would recommend contacting the colleges to which you are applying. They’ve seen just about everything before and can tell you where it’s best to include that information.

I’m also an O Level and A Level student. I left all those spaces blank.

By the way, what are your grades?

If you leave those spaces blank, how do you tell them your grades? Do I need to send GCSEs as well as A levels?

Please review the international supplement. It has nothing to do with citizenship, it is for student’s who studied at an international school using a curriculum other than AP, regardless of their citizenship. Regarding the Common App proper - just use common sense, fill out what’s relevant, leave blank what’s not.
