I'm I competitive enough?

I have a 3.7 GPA and I want to know if this is a good enough GPA as I begin to apply for colleges.

Yes, that is a good GPA but it will depend upon which colleges you plan to apply. Cal States use GPA and SAT/ACT scores to evaluate applicants. UC’s and privates will use GPA/Test scores/EC’s and essays to evaluate their applicants. Also is your GPA weighted/unweighted? Did you take Honors/AP/IB classes? These are all considered during the application process. You need to calculate your UC/CSU GPA if you are interested in applying to any of these schools. Once you have your GPA/SAT or ACT scores, you can start looking at schools where you Stats are at or above the averages for a good chance at an acceptance. You also want some safety and a few reach schools on your list. Intended major will also make a difference on which schools to target.

I forgot add that you need to speak with your parents about how much they can tribute to your education. If you need FA, then you need to look schools that offer good FA and merit aid.

A 3.7 is a solid GPA but, just one factor colleges use to evaluate applicants. There are LOTS of schools you are likely to be eligible for.
