I'm in a difficult position. (Please help me!)

Hey guys,

For the longest time, UVA has been the college of my dream, but the reality is that my chances are almost 50/50. William and Mary has come to become my second choice.

I believe that applying for Early Decision at William and Mary will highly increase my chances.

William and Mary offers Early Decision while UVA does not. I'm on the fence whether or not to apply for Early Decision or not. If I applied for regular decision and got accepted into one and not the other, I wouldn't feel unless content; however, if I were to not get into either, it would be a terrible blow as I do not want to get into schools such as Virginia Tech, VCU, or JMU, as I have not worked this hard to get into those schools.

If I applied for William and Mary and got accepted, it would haunt me for the rest of my life that I never applied to my dream school. But with that said, I would not feel any less happy if I got into William and Mary, knowing that I tried and had been rejected at UVA.

Here is my information if it helps.

Keep in my mind that my rank is highly blown out of port portions. There are many students ranked ahead of me who are still taking Precalculus or who have taken easy classes such as Teacher Cadet or Advanced Physical Education. There are others who are taking English 12A and Physics, while I am taking AP Language and Composition and AP Physics C. I have taken harder classes than 99% of the students at my school.

I’m pretty sure you can get into UVA. :-)

apply to UVA go for your dream. I know it seems simpler t take the safer path and apply ED to william and Mary but you stated that you would always regret not trying to get into UVA. So shoot for your stars at least you will never be regretful. I suggest you also find one last school you’s be happy going to - a reach school because 2 schools you love doesn’t leave you with a lot of options. Furthermore, College of william and Mary is pretty competititve- the valedictorian from our school did not get in, he had like a 2290 SAt and he was ungodly smart. So, I say stick with UVA- good luck!

There’s your answer right there. I never saw a better reason NOT to apply ED.

Your chances at UVA are pretty good UNLESS you live in northern Virginia.

Why is that? I live in Northern Virginia – Loudoun County.
