I'm in Calculus--should I take the Math II subject test this year?

I'm a soph in Calculus. Should I wait for next year to take the subject test or should I just take it this year? I know it just covers precalc material so I could take it this year as easily, but... supposing I should become more intelligent over the span of time.... well okay, I just want to put it off.

It doesn't matter which year, right? Anyone who's been in the same situation?

And is there any reason to take more than 3 subject tests?

Take it now! It only covers up to pre-calc level math. So, while precalc is till fresh in your mind, I would take it sooner. Calculus just introduces new topics which are not on the test. I took it after pre-calc (my junior year) and got 770, then I took it (in a practice booklet) recently as a senior and got 740.

Take it before you forget your precal (i.e. soon).

unfortunately, i would fail miserably at math 2. my school's precalc is subpar (understatement)

Take it when you get to vectors/polar/matrices in Calc BC because it will help you refresh your memory for PreCalc.

NO ^ you will forget more stuff about precalc if you wait that long to refresh your memory on topics which havent even shown up yet in my BC class (and were almost through the whole book!)

Now. Calculus doesn't do much to enforce everything you've learned in precal (i.e. you don't need much of a solid understanding of precal to do well in calc), and you'll just forget stuff over time. And any questions about vectors, matrices, the like will either be very basic or easily done on a calculator.

Not really, unless you do crappy on 1 and want to take another. The most any college requires is 3.

just get a review book (i like princeton review for math 2) and read through, u should do fine especially since ur a sophmore in calc =O! g/l ;p

Get Barron's -- it will overprep you.

Seriously, Math II is a calculator based test.
I didn't prepare that much and I was able to pull off a good score with my 89.

Take the Math 2 test sooner than later after pre-calc. My daughter took pre-calc as a sophmore and because I thought the Math 2 was for after calculus, she waited. Now she is in AP Calc BC and has to re-teach/re-fresh all those forumulas. She said it is very difficult to find the time to re-memorize all those forumulas that would have been very easy for her to use at the end of pre-calc last year. My bad! She really wishes we had understood that the Math 2 is best done after pre-calc, not calc.

if you're homeschooled, i think you are required to take 5 for some schools.

Take it now while precalculus/calculus are still fresh in your mind.
