I called the admissions office and they said I've been admitted!

Very happy right now!

Anyways, she also said that it may be another 3-4 weeks until I get my acceptance packet. So call the admissions office for decisions, don't wait so long!

Wow, nevermind about the 3-4 week wait. I got my packet Today. Turns out I got an IU Faculty scholarship for $24,000 over 4 years. Sweet!

But I still have a few questions:

1) I didn't hear about early admit to Kelley. How can I find that out? Or do they not tell me until i'm on campus? I meet all the criteria for Kelley early admit, but no letter.

2) I didn't hear about the Honors college. It says "You will be notified if you qualify for admission to the Honors College", but I want to know if that notification was supposed to come with the admittance packet. Does anyone know when this info was supposed to be relayed? I'm guessing I didn't qualify, so i'm probably going to have to apply for honors.

3) Anyone have any dorm suggestions? I'm planning on dual majoring between both Business and Sport Management in the school of HPER, so anything within good distance of those two schools would be preferential. I know that if I get into Honors, I will have to stay in that dorm

Actually getting into Honors College does NOT mean you have to live in the Honors dorm. It just means you can if you want to. As for which dorms, you only get to choose a section of the campus (neighborhoods, they call them), so look at the map they send you with the housing information and choose the neighborhood closest to those areas. (Priority is given, however, if you choose a theme house, such as Honors dorm or whatever the others are.)

I believe the invitation to the Honors College came in a separate mailing that arrived a while after the admissions letter. I suspect Kelley admit letters come later, too. I know my son's admit to the School of Music came much later than the admit to IU. (However, he didn't apply early.)

And congrats on the scholarship!! Free money is always wonderful and extremely useful!

I have a question, if you have submitted your app over a month ago but have yet to hear a decision is it alright to call the admissions office and ask? Should I pose a faux question like "Did you get all my materials?"

Go ahead and call the office of admissions. I called and just asked them if I could check my application status. They will be straight up with you, and will give you a decision over the phone.

I think sr6622 is kidding because I posted in another thread about Michigan State and they posted their stats and said they got rejected from there as well then said they were kidding.

My daughter just got a BIG envelope from IU. The words "You're In" were written across the bottom.

For what it is worth, here are her stats:

OOS
3.6 UW (All Honors and AP, so weighted is much higher.)
SATs 770M 740V 680CW

The biggest shock of all - a $28K IU Faculty Scholarship.

There is info. in the package about applying for other scholarships. The deadline is 12/1. Yikes. The envelope just arrived. Does anyone know where I can find out what scholarships they are talking about?

FYI, she's wants to major in International Relations.

CONGRATS to the last two posters - fv920 and merblajam!

merblajam - I think the majority of the scholarships on the SSA that aren't affiliated with the Kelley School of Business are private scholarships. I don't know 100%, but I think that's true, and the SSA is mainly for small scholarships.

Congrats on the Faculty award - that's the highest possible award. You have a bright daughter. IU is a great school.

yea i just got the envelope too with the big letters "You're In" on it..do exciting. also got the IU faculty award of 28,000 over 4 yrs..congrats to merblajam and fv920 too!

I just got in today, found out online, no e-mail yet and i assume the packet wont come for a while. Now im just waiting on Penn State, UMICH, UMaryland, Wisonsin, and Illinois
