It’s my first time posting here although I always roamed around w/o an account reading other posts but
I’ll just get straight to the point.
I have a 4.0 GPA in my school, and I am a junior (upcoming senior).
I’ve always had scores higher than 90 in all of my courses (won’t get extremely specific lol), but this year, my US history teacher decided to give me a 20% on participation (it was very subjective, I did participate), which dragged my US grade to a 75.
I will be very likely in getting this grade on my report card and transcript, and I’m actually getting worried that this one 75 is going to ruin my chances at colleges I’m aiming for.
Tbh my college aims aren’t even high, I"m not applying to any ivies, but I do want to go to Northeastern, BU, and NYU.
My SAT is over a 2k, and my EC’s are pretty strong. I wont get so in detail with this because I’m not as elite as these other people on this site.
I’m pretty sure one bad grade wouldn’t ruin my chances, but I’m getting so stressed about it, especially since there was nothing I could do to raise it.
Can anyone tell me if one extremely bad grade can make colleges hesitant in making acceptances?
I’m probably just being overly crazy about this but I just wanted to hear opinions on this.
(I’m usually not this worried, haha please don’t think I’m a really uptight student only caring about grades because if you know me, I just like to gtfo of school)
Thanks in advance to anyone who would like to have a say about this situation!!
First, you have a spectacular gpa (if its unweighted lol)…otherwise still fine but maybe you want to change your reach, target and safety schools based on GPA. Also, just wanted to say it does not matter which college you go to. Go to the one where you will feel happy and enjoy. I just started at UC Berkeley and I hate it. So don’t worry too much. It doesn’t matter that much in the real world anyway.
