I'm learning NOTHING in AP Biology. HELP!!!

My AP Biology class is an absolute joke. We really just sit there most days while our teacher is figuring something out on her computer. How should I go about studying for the exam since the class has taught me nothing?

My AP biology class is similar to yours. My teacher does teach, but I just sleep the whole time because I don't understand anything. I found reading the textbook helps a lot. I basically learned every single thing so far this year just from reading my textbook. And maybe you should also get a prep book? Most people on CC like Cliffnotes for bio.

my AP BIO is a joke to, same story is manatee. I read the book a few nights a week and always get the best grade in the class. Also, I have Cliffnotes to review from, since our tests our usually a few chapters at a time. It seems like I've been learning a lot more since I started doing this, but it does take some commitment. For the exam, I'll probably just use cliffnotes, or maybe get another book to review.

Wow, that's completely different from my school. AP Biology is the hardest AP science (in regards to the large amounts of work, Physics C would be hardest in material). Because the class is very hard, kids at my school learn a lot. I guess Cliffs would be a good thing to buy.

Ya go with the Cliffs to supplement your textbook reading and you will be golden

Yeah, same thing in my class.

I just read the book...I enjoy reading it anyways, so it's not like it's a hassle :)

alright thank you everyone. my teacher bought us all barrons review books at the beginning of the year. do you think that will be fine to use instead of cliffs?

I personally like Barron's more than Cliffs for Bio. I find it containing more in-depth material and it prepares me a lot more for the tests. The general consensus usually falls between Barron's and Cliffs, and several people say both.

I personally read either/or because my AP Bio class is the same. My teacher usually just goes over answers to review packets during school and goes over the basic vocab of each chapter and we don't learn anything else. Reading the reviewbooks helps. (Especially when u r too lazy to read the textbook).

I rented Barron's from our library at the beginning of the school year, and that made me decide to go buy one at Borders. Borders didn't have Barron's, so I bought Cliffnotes. They are both pretty good IMO, so just use it don't waste money on a new book.

My class is exactly the same! Good to know we're not alone! But our tests our impossible & no one is prepared at all for the exam. A bunch of people have dropped the class & some that stayed aren't even taking the AP test. Has anyone been successful with the Sparknotes? I just bought them but are Cliffnotes better?
