I'm looking for..

Okay, I'm looking to add a few more colleges to my list. Right now, I'm in the process of applying to UMN-Twin Cities and UW-Madison, and maybe UT-Austin. What I'm looking for is a flagship state school, no LACs or Ivys. I'm also looking for less expensive OOS tuition and no required recommendations on the application.

I'm a senior female interested in biomedical engineering, possibly pre-med. But there's also an interest in sports management. I will have to figure that out sometime, but right now I can apply to schools with strengths in either of these programs. I'm from Minnesota.

Not many extra-currics, had to quit sports after 9th grade due to surgeries. Am in NHS and had a job at a fast food restaurant for 5 months in tenth grade where I worked ~10-15 hours a week, and now have had a job at WalMart for 5 months where I work ~25 hours a week. Was in business club in 10th grade, that disbanded. I went to the local university full time for 11th grade and am going to this year as well. There, I became a part of a college honor society of leadership and success. Made the dean's list both semesters at the university.

ACT: 34 composite. 35E 35M 34R 30S, 9 writing
SAT: 2060 710M 680R 670W (I probably won't send this, only took it in case I made NMSF)
PSAT: 213--> just barely missed being NMSF, only commended
GPA: Unweighted probably like 3.9, not totally positive. Weighted is over 4.0 for sure, as of right now I have 30 credits at the local university in gen eds with a perfect 4.0 and am taking 16 more this semester and more next semester

I want to get out of state! Sooo either low OOS tuition or merit scholarships for which I'd be competitive that would help me pay/lower me to instate tuition. Basically I want schools that put a big emphasis on test scores (ACT), GPA, and course rigor, since my extra curriculars are pretty weak and it's almost impossible for me to get teacher recs (haven't attended my high school since 10th grade..)

UGA, Alabama, LSU

Neither Bama nor LSU has biomedical engineering, and only LSU has sports management…but I heard their program isn’t all that great.

Well in terms of getting great (possibly full ride) financial aid.
Ohio State has a great Sports Management program.

I will say, OOS schools will probably be more expensive than privates, so I would not write them off altogether. Of course Minnesota will be cheaper than any schools for you.

Actually lol Wisconsin would be cheaper than Minnesota for me due to reciprocity. But I’d reeeeally like to get out of the area. Which privates do you recommend? I’m just really not interested in the small LAC type places, but I guess I wouldn’t mind a large private. But most of those require teacher recs :/

In NC look at the biomedical engineering program at NC State Univ. NCSU also has a large Sports Management program. Admission is pretty numbers driven. NC OOS tuition is lower than many states. You may qualify for scholarships.

I have two questions before any recommendations can be made.

Are you getting a diploma and/or GED?

Are you sure being full-time at a university will not force you to apply as a transfer applicant?

I’m dual enrolling…
