Man, who else is bummed that their PSAT score is literally like 2 points away from semifinalist standing? What scholarships are commended students eligible for?

I'm bummed because my PSAT in junior year Dropped 90 points.
Sophomore: 1930 (with studying)
Junior: 1840 (without studying)
...

Wow, that sucks. Good to know studying pays off, at least.

Number2.com is really good help. and it's free

i was depressed, but now i just dont care. senioritis, anybody?

No, I'm doing IB -__-

Has anyone heard from being commended yet?

My daughter was 1 point away last year ... and she would have made it with that score this year! I understand how you feel. We did not find any scholarships designated for Commended scholars.

The good news is, the fact that you scored as high as you did means that you have some great opportunities for merit money at colleges. In the final analysis, it didn't matter that my daughter had "only" made Commended. The merit money she received was far more than the $2000 many schools give for being NMS Finalist. There are a handful of schools that give huge scholarships for Finalists, but there are plenty of schools that give good merit aid for strong students regardless of NMS designation.

Concentrate on putting together a great application. If you need to take the SAT or ACT again to boost your score, do that.

I don't remember my daughter hearing anything officially about being Commended for a long time. You can correctly assume that you are Commended if you were sent the letter last spring & returned it ... then didn't make semifinalist cut.
