I'm Never Home

pebbles,

I don't think you need to feel "guilty". Parents love it when their children are happy and engaged in college life. That said, I think a weekend here or there can be squeezed into your schedule without too much difficulty - go home Friday afternoon after class or Saturday morning and leave Sunday morning after brunch.

But, I do have to mention, this - sorry - you asked for parental advice and I'm a mom. How much time do you spend on the internet? You have over 2000 messages on this board alone. I would be very sad that my daughter was spending that much of her time on-line talking with strangers. You're on a campus with hundreds of compatible students - you'll never have that comaraderie again. Get off the computer and go enjoy it!

Why didn't you live with your parents until you were 8? Were they here and you in the "old country"?

I appreciate your concern but I promise that I'm lacking nothing socially. Though it seems unreliable to me to judge people based on post counts, I don't think having 2000 over the period of three years (one of the years being senior year high school when I was applying to colleges and checking this site every day) is too overwhelming.

To answer your question: I spend about 1-2 hours a day on the computer. (Writing a 6 page paper like I did today doesn't count)

yeah, my parents were here and I was in China being raised by my grandparents.
