i'm new here at college confidential, help plz.

yea guys, uh... a few questions, what do these abbreviations mean?

CC, BUMP, and URM.

i got referred here by a buddy of mine, but he isn't telling me a thing. thanks in advance for the help

cc=college confidential
bump=bring up my post (used to bring a post listing to the top of the page)
urm=under represented minority

a mod should pin this cause i think many people have the same questions

wow, this site is great i just got here and already i've replied to so many ppl and asking stupid questions, haha

actually bump wasn't originally an acronym, it was just bump because you have to "bump" up the post. some idiot wrote "bring up my post" in his thread, and now everyone thinks the word came from this

CC=College Confidential or also Community College
bump=used to bring someones post up the top...as you can tell...the order of the posts is based on which ones have the latest responses...so people say 'bump' so the post will appear at the top of the list
urm=under represented minority (african americans, native americans, etc.)

welcome to CC...where the top 5% of the nations students spend their lives ;)

That might be pushing it. I think the top 5% generally have better things to do.

is this place that full of super wacko interllectuals??

Yeah, some, but they don’t bite (usually.) :D
In reality, there are a lot of super-high achievers here who do things like complaining about a 2350 SAT and a 4.98 GPA. However, there are also lots of people who aren’t super geniuses with near-perfect stats (like me. :) ) What you won’t find here is very many truly “average” people (1500 new SAT, 2.0 GPA.) We do tend to be quite a high-achieving group in general.
