I'm not a car guy....

Is there something wrong with me? I don't know a thing about cars beyond what it takes to drive them, and I've never had a desire to drive a ferrari or lamborghini or whatever. All I want is a car that looks good, operates well, and can play my music. I don't really understand all the hype about cars lol. Anyone with me?? Cars are just for transportation... right? lol

I’m with you

Agreeeed. Except I add one qualification: safety. And I’m pretty loose on the “looks good” bit. It’s a car. Sure, I don’t want a box or a car that’s the color of puke, but that’s about it.

Wait, was this just aimed at “guys” or people in general? I suppose these things are traditionally different for girls and boys.

I’m also not interested in “technical specifications” regarding objects.

There are many important features of a car. It has to have a high horsepower:weight ratio. It has to take turns fast without losing traction. It has to be able to stop quickly. And more important than all of that, it has to accommodate the reception of sexual favors in the backseat. How can you not understand these things?

It’s all about fuel economy.

If you want fuel economy, ride a bike.

And you don’t understand the hype about cars now, but wait until you get behind the wheel of a lambo.

The first time you drive a really nice car, you will “get it.” The difference between a nice BMW and a Chevy is huge.

I think for my first car i want a used school bus. You could take out some of the seats and put a bed in the back and curtains and a kitchen and maybe some couches. Or a conversion van with the cumfy seats. If you got a bus you wouldnt have to really worry about getting in an accident cause cause it would be so huge.

OP get behind the wheel of a really nice car and you’ll understand the “hype”.

I watch too much Top Gear to empathize

This is true.

This is fuel economy. For men.

My opinion as a devout car guy:

It’s totally fine if you aren’t a car guy, in my opinion. It’s fine if you are just looking for a functional car. However, I will criticize you for not “know(ing) a thing about cars beyond what it takes to drive them”. Regardless of whether you’re into cars or not, knowing basic maintenance of machines important to daily function is critical, and all guys should at least know basic maintenance. I do deem it somewhat “un-masculine” if you’re not self-sufficient, ie: unable to keep your car running because of lack of basic understanding.

As for the social aspect, as a previous poster said, there is a certain degree of camaraderie that comes with talking about the subject. Men tend do have common interests in sports, gadgets, cars, attractive women, etc, and while not really being overly interested in one of them is fine, if you aren’t interested in any, you may be left out of conversations and seem a bit odd. It’s like a girl not being interested in shopping and any other “girly” stuff.

lol whenever Whan comes back, he makes the Whanliest posts :b

Yes, men do tend to be more interested in attractive women.

Whan is like an Asian Aero.

So Aero’s loaded and God?

It’s just their manner of posting.
