im smart (i guess).........but i try not to act like it. I only let my teachers know im smart and hardworking and everyone else thinks im just abovve normal u kno.

ive gone through all phases. When i used to act reallyl really smart, no one was my friend. I picked up on social skills, etc. and life became sweet as hell.

"I lack basic common sense, social perception, and am frequently paralyzed when confronted with difficult decisions."

^Seriously, I feel this way too. I used to think that because I could awe my teachers and classmates with my knowledge, I was really intelligent, but now I realize that in many ways I am not at all smart. Despite what my IQ suggests, I possess little common sense and cannot perform practical tasks with the proficiency and accuracy my peers with average IQ scores can. In so many ways, those normal people are smarter than me.

Social situations are horrible for me. Even calling one of my own friends up on the phone is hell for me, I pretty much lack all common sense, and I have trouble making difficult decisions unless I first have someone else's "approval."

It's like those with Asperger's syndrome or Autism, they're usually quite intelligent but very awkward in social situations, and clueless about socializing in general.

no offense but true smartness does not come academically. Using that knowledge is smartness. Using knowledge and resources to make yourself into a social person is smartness. Using your abilities to make perfection is smartness.

I'm not a genius...And I'm not a hard worker either. People simply assume I'm a genius when I get a really high grade on a test I hardly studied for. I just used my brain. Analytical skills are awesome. ;)

the best and most humble comeback to "how did you get a 100%?" is "I guess I just studied harder." Even if you spent like 5 mins studying, it means that those 5 mins were spent much more efficiently than the 10 hrs that other ppl drag on.

I talk way too much to be a mime. But are you certain the person didn't say "mind camp"... although that would be weird too. I'm loving the "SAT Prep camp" thing. All that says is "My parents have $."

I guess so... I'd like a way to not lie about how much I study and make others feel like they can come to me for help with academic issues. I'm just annoying though, so I fail in that respect.

JBvirtuoso: our definitions are virtually the same. Mine with a bit more explanation.

But mine was more direct. When you're looking through Webster to find something quickly, you're not looking for Tolstoy. You're looking for a definition.
