I've come to the decision that it would be best for me just to transfer Winter 2011. Everything feels rushed and I'm doing terrible in my Spanish class and need to drop it, plus I don't want have to take Critical Thinking and Statistics over the summer. I'm kind of disappointed, but I'm sure it will be for the best.

Yes, and I don’t think you could take Critical Thinking and Statistics over the summer and be accepted for Fall 2010 anyway. IGETC needs to be completed by the Spring prior to transfer, in this case, Spring 2010. Last year, two friends of mine who had one or two GE classes (not related to their major) left to take they were planning on taking in the Summer before the Fall of 2009 were not accepted for that very reason.

I still applied to San Diego State and University of New Mexico though. The only UC that does winter TAG that I’m interested in is UCD.

Do not feel bad about it. I see so many bright and able students get hung up on the “transfer in two years!” hype. It is not a race, and think about 5-10 years after you graduate. You will thank yourself for doing it right and not rushing through your education.

UCD is going to have Winter TAGs? I thought that they where suspended because of the budget problems.

University of NM? That place is sooooo boring!

UCD has Winter TAGs if your school has a Transfer Opportunity Agreement (TOP) agreement with them.

I was tanking in Spanish and had to withdraw. I wasn’t putting in the time I should have, plus I only started Fall 2008. It became too much.

UCSD does winter tag too!

Why don’t you just apply, then defer your acceptance once you’re expected? I’m not quite sure how that works, or under what circumstances it’s allowed (or even at which campuses), but it’s worth looking into, I’d say.
