I'm not really a genius, should i go here?

You may or may not be interested in my stats so i wont include them unless u are curius.

I am fascinated by science/technology/engineering and am very smart in those fields. However, I have never really considered myself MIT or Caltech material. Will I be left in the dust by kids smarter than me?

Also, if I can get in, will i be the only partier in the entire school?

You do not have to be an ultra genius to get into Mudd. You do not even have to be an ultra genius to get into MIT or Caltech, or to do well there. You have to be smart of course, which you say you are, and you have to have discipline and work ethic. So I think, as long as your stats are decent, and very good in math and science, you could do well at Mudd, MIT, Caltech, or any school, as long as you put the effort in.

And no, you will by no means, no means at all, be the only partier here. Mudders love their parties - one of them, Long Tall Glasses, was once ranked on Playboy's top ten college parties.

whoa. top ten for Playboy? that should've been an interesting party....lol

to add onto tiyusufaly:
mudd is a great place to grow.

Michael Tapper from We Are Scientists went to Harvey Mudd. The two other band members went to Pomona. They seem to be very party-oriented.

Man, that was random. Ignore this post. :)

thanks
what do u think the minimum stats are?

Minimum to get accepted? I got in with a 2080 SAT, 4.4 GPA/3.98 uw, 800 Physics, 770 Chem, 770 Math IIC, 5's on AP Calc AB and Physics B.

So yes, I'm not a super genius, but I'm pretty good at math/science. shrugs Maybe rocketDA or tiyusufaly could predict your chances or something.

wow. you give me hope For5saken! now i don't feel so intimidated by the school because i only thought super geniuses got accepted.

but you are still really smart looking at your subject testings.

Typically, if you are in the top 0.5 percentile of the general populus, you are a genius. :)

You're probably a genius...

The average admitted student has around these qualifications:
2220 SAT I
SATII: Math IIC 800, Physics/Chem 790, Writing 700
Typically 5's on most/all Science/Math AP tests
And last but not least: A very interesting and eager mind that has some intriguing history and a promising future!

I'm pretty sure that HMC wants to make sure you are REAL PERSON...and not some workaholic zombie. Keep that in mind and have fun with what you're doing.

Well, 2080 was my new SAT. I got 1540 + 800 Writing on the old. I think HMC looks at both.

rocketDA is right. If you have a interview, be yourself. If you don't have an interview, make sure your personality shows through your personal statements. The adcoms thought I had a sense of humor. I never went in for an interview, and my essays were not very funny. I guess they know me better than I know myself. :)

"I'm pretty sure that HMC wants to make sure you are REAL PERSON...and not some workaholic zombie. Keep that in mind and have fun with what you're doing."

Excuse me for quoting myself... but the irony is that you may not be a workholic UNTIL you get to mudd... :)
