Im Panicked!

I've been studying for the dec 1 SAT for the last 60 days. Before that I had no idea what sat was as im an international test taker.

Here is a list of what i have done;

-Basically perfected SAT maths(worst score i will get is a 750)
-Wrote about 8 practice essays, with an avg score of 10
-Started Direct Hits 1 21 days before the SAT, finished 7 days before(24nov2012) with 150-160 words perfected and the rest I can get the meaning with a glimpse or two
-searched for the blue book everywhere in my country, couldnt find it but found some of its specific tests online(not the practice tests, the short ones which are about 25-30 questions) and completed them
-i had no idea about critical reading and i basically sucked, i improved my cr drastically
-took the nov 3 sat just as an experience, bombed it but learned what the sat is actually like and what to expect(540cr 640 maths 590 writing)
-downloaded last couple years' official practice tests, got a 650cr 760maths 700 writing in one, WHILE TAKING ANOTHER ONE TODAY I PANICKED SO BAD THAT I LITERALLY BOMBED CR AND FAILED SENTENCE COMP.(my worst problem), but my perfection at writing and maths remained intact.

I studied. I started from scratch to try to accomplish something very few people can even attempt to do in my country and I came far. But I panick during CR. I usually get all Q's regarding a passage right. I have the urge to look at my clock ALL the time while im reading a passage.

No more chances if i fail this. I need to get a 2100 (minimum) this time.

When i panick i have a tendency to read questions so fast that i have to read it again which results in no relief but contrarily just time loss.

I am rushing things right now. What should I do?

The good thing is that you are aware of what your issue is.

Now, your goal is to find out what you need to do to alleviate the pressure. First, you cannot think in terms of pass/fail; it seems to be a psychological block that is preventing you from doing your best. You are obviously smart enough to do well, you just need to figure out what is mentally affecting you, and figure out how to avoid it.

Are your parents giving you too much pressure? Are you giving yourself too much pressure? What do you think about when you start to panic?

You need to realize, that at the end of the day, this will be just 4 hours of your life. No matter what happens, your life will continue on. The quality of your life will not be greatly affected by the results of this test. You know that you read too quickly, you know that you look at the clock too much, so figure out ways to overcome those problems.

Think about relaxation techniques also. If you start to panic, take 15 seconds to close your eyes and focus on breathing. Maybe you could take a yoga class, or meditate. Whatever calms you down.

Don’t forget to breathe…

Thanks for the great response. My parents are VERY indifferent about my SAT success as it is totally my decision to leave my country and start a new life in the U.S. I want to apply to UChicago and therefore, yes, I suppose I am putting too much pressure on myself.

I need to calm down. The moment I start my exam I have a feeling of rush and stress.

No more. I basically refuse to be like that anymore. I have done the best I could have on my part and will keep doing that in the next 4 days for my success. I know enough to get the scored I need. No need to panic, as I predict that worrying about lack of knowledge is what makes successful people panicky.

Thanks for relieving a great adversity I’ve been going through for a while. You have possibly changed my life for the good.
