Im an incoming freshman at a nationally recongnized honors program at my community college. The major I picked to study is Business Administration. At the time, I was hoping to work for Lockheed Martin after joining the military and obtaining my MBA. The problem is that I found out that you don't have to be a business major to go to an MBA program, and that most CEOs started out as engineers(a field I have no passion for).

To add to that, I'm very confused on how my major works. I thought that by picking Business Administration, all major's specializations(such as finance, accounting, operations management, etc...) would be included. But, apparently a BS in Business Administration is a separate degree from a BS in Business Administration - Marketing, for example. I thought there was only one business degree and that then people could branch out into whatever specialization they wished later on?

Now, I'm considering not picking Business Administration at all and instead go with Economics, obtain an MBA later on, and start my own company instead of working for a corporation such as Lockheed Martin, where an engineering major with an MBA has a better chance of becoming CEO than a BBA major with an MBA(although I understand what makes a CEO is personality, ethics, and characteristics, and not a degree alone.)

If I decide to go down the road of entrepreneurship, I would prefer to get into the financial sector and work in something along the path of what Berkshire Hathaway or Bain Capital(sorry if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about, it's just that there are so many things to take into consideration that I don't know where to start). I envision the company starting out as a bank, for example, and then expanding into other sectors of the business field before expanding even further into other industries until its main focus is to no longer be a bank, but to be a parent company. I know to start your own business requires massive amounts of capital, but I'm confident that if I save up much of my money from my time in the military, I can start out slowly and get something going.
