I'm really depressed about my recent grade drop

Junior Year:
1st quarter: 3.86
2nd quarter: 3.90
3rd quarter: 3.95
4th quarter: 3.52 (was a 3.9 but dropped in a week due to finals week)

SAT: 1810 ... retook the June SAT ...
UC GPA would most likely be around a 3.5 ... do I still have a chance for the UC's anymore? I come from a low income, first generation asian american, and first generation high school student. In terms of academic support and neighborhood, I really had no support from anyone but myself. To be quite honest, I really don't know what happened in the 4th quarter. I slept till 3 in the morning each night ... just to keep those grades up ... to only have it drop from a 3.90 to 3.52 in less than a week ...

I plan to take AP Chem, Hon. Physics, and AP Cal BC (the hardest ap and honors classes offered at my school) next year. I also plan to retake the October SAT. Furthermore, my robotics club is signed up for the FIRST robotics competition ...

As of this moment, I'm really, really depressed. My parents haven't found out about my final grades too ...

I don’t know if you are trolling or not… But your average GPA for the 4 quarters is a 3.8… Calm the hell down.

Well if you check to see if your grades were about the same as your 3rd quarter then u obviously miscalculated

Maybe they dropped because you weren’t sleeping. Sleep is important, too. Your brain doesn’t work properly without it.

One bad quarter, especially when you average everything out and when that quarter isn’t all that bad to begin with, is not going to ruin you. You’re fine. Just focus next year on bringing your grades back up at least to where they were earlier this year.

@r619dude I’m not trolling. This really did happen …

@RedSeven Thanks for the advice!

You’re in the ball park for UCs. Which UCs are you going to apply for?

I’m thinking about applying to UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz … and USC (although it’s not in the UC system - just wanted to mention it)

I am most positive that I would be getting an application fee waiver for 4 UC schools

Okay, I definitely see you getting accepted to UC Davis, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz given you have a strong application. Do you know your 10-11 weighted GPA? It’s hard to tell for Berkeley and LA.

I applied and got into UCLA, UCI, UCSD, UCD, and UCR.

Ok sorry I just didn’t know lol. But you should be in the ball range for many UC’s and you should be competitive for the more selective ones.
