I'm rising junior and got internship offer for next summer. Should I reject it to keep options open?

Hi guys, I’m currently a rising junior undergrad at a Boston business school, and recently got an internship offer at a public accounting firm I really love for the following summer. However, they’re only giving me 2 days to make a decision. As I said, I love the firm, location and pay is great, so there isn’t really any reason I shouldn’t take this internship. That being said, next summer will be my first “real internship experience,” so I don’t know if I should turn it down and keep my options open? Is accepting the offer then turning it down later if I get another one ok (I would really rather not do this, however)? Let me know if you guys have any insights!

I’d grab it. There’s no guarantee you’ll get a better, or even as good an offer next summer and it will be very nice not to have to spend a lot of time this winter applying for internships. As you’ve said, you love the firm, and the location and pay are great, so why not?

Take it! You have an offer in hand. Less stress during the fall and more time to study and do other things. Congrats.

“A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush” Take it. It’s not a legally binding contract, so if something significantly better comes along you can always change your mind down the road.

Thank you all for your replies! I think I am going to accept.

Don’t let FOMO paralyze you. It rises to the level of “good enough” and that’s where you want to be. Congrats!

It might be right to accept, but if this internship was arranged on campus and using the Career office of your school, the school probably does not all “exploding offers.”

Good luck.
