hey this site really bites, i have a 3.57 uw GPA (im in TOP 10%) and i worked my butt off for it, but ppl here have like 4.0s and its depressing to see, i was wondering if anyone could tell me if i have a chance with a 3.57uw??? i have a 2200 SAT which is pretty good 1460 M+V and REALLY good ECs, so any feedback to make me happy much appreciated :)

GPA depends on a lot of things, how hard is your school? how hard are your classes? what is your grade trend? are you a humanities person and have perfect mark in them but lack in math and science? are you a math/science person and lack in the humanities? These are all things that affect your GPA, so a 3.57 in your case could be considered excellent and Cornell will know that by looking at all these factors. Your SAT's look good, you say you have really good EC's, and if your recs and essays are good, you have nothing to worry about, b/c your chance of getting admitted is no different than that 4.0 person, plus maybe they have no EC's to go with that GPA.

Don't worry about it a 3.57 isn't that bad, and it doesn't put you out of the running for any school out there.

its not good though, and it really must be compensated for especially at schools that are of Cornell caliber. Not trying to be rude, just realistic

In the case of a low gpa, factors such as school difficulty/prestige and class rank become more important. If it is a tough school and your class rank is good, I don' think it will stop you from getting in.

average GPA of applicants and one's school's average GPA are totally unrelated. That's why it's not a statistic for USNWR or anything. He's in the top 10%, unless he goes to "Ghetto HS North" that's an achievement on it's own. You have a very fine chance, except if you school is exceptionally competitive that might decrease your chances just by having alot of competition within your school, but that doesn't reflect on your GPA versus the average applicant at all. if you're in the top 10% don't stress: cornell will know you're a very hard worker.

Your other stats are good/great. Don't sweat--you've got a good chance.

Hey don't be sad.

I had a 3.6 GPA and a 1460 on the old SAT , with decent ECs (nothing special)

I got into Cornell - school of Arts and Sciences... so don't get discouraged!

You..already..started..this..thread..on..July..18......dont..make..me..hurt..you...

I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you have great recs, a good essay, and a good interview, and I'm sure you'll get in.
