I'm doing miserable in high-school. Well let's see, I go to an IB school, and I'm a candidate. I'm currently taking Chemistry SL, History HL, ITGS (Technology) HL, Spanish SL, English HL, and Mathematics SL.

I'm doing so well in ITGS and Matemathics.

My grade at ITGS is: 98 (A+)
And Mathematics: 92 (A)
Chemistry (86)
History( 87 )

If I get my Chemistry grade above a 90, and math grade above a 95, what are my chances at getting into a top college that specializes in Math and Technology, such as MIT.

I seem to be a math and tech driven student.

And for extra-curricular I have been in Mouse-Squad for 6 years, that's a school IT program that fixes our 150+ macs in our school. It's also a program that hundreds of other schools do.

bsge, I think panic was over-reacting a bit. His message was that if your record is as you’ve described it here, it’s a bit foolish to say you’re “scared” and your record is “miserable.” If you continue on your current trajectory, and especially if you can improve a little over the rest of your schooling, you should be a strong candidate for good colleges.

PS: A “■■■■■” is someone who posts a message under false pretenses, in order to have some fun reading the reactions. That’s what panic thinks you’re doing – and he may be right, but I think it more likely that you’re just young, naive, and over-reacting to the ridiculous stuff that gets posted on CC. Leaving CC is actually pretty good advice, for your own sanity as a young high school student. Cheers. :)

^^ For anyone who’s wondering what the heck those two posts are about, someone responded to the original post with very harsh words – looks like the response and the OP’s questions about the response have since been removed.

But wait, I’m not over re-acting at all, my english grade is around a 75%. And I just don’t know what to do. I’m working my ass off to excel further in that class, but all my attempts lead to failure.

And I was just wondering if I plan to attend a good school for mathematics and technology, what are my chances of getting in if my Language grade is low.

acceptance rates to MIT are so low already that no one can really say…although I have met a guy with horrible horrible stats that got into MIT because he acted really enthusiastic about it on cc, and I know for a fact that MIT admissions officers ■■■■■ cc, so maybe you can go for that
