I'm scared to apply to college

I'm applying to college as a transfer as I go to community college now. I am only applying to public state schools, and one public reach school. My community college GPA is a 2.88, which is acceptable to the public state schools as you need a minimum of a 2.0 to be considered for admission. I do have one D on my transcript from a class I took last semester, but I am retaking the class this semester.
My high school GPA was a 2.3. I do not need to send in my SAT scores to the colleges because I have enough transferable credits from community college to not have to send in my SAT scores.
But I'm scared to apply because I'm scared that a 2.88 isn't high enough and the D on my transcript will get me rejected. Help?

If you apply, you have a chance of getting in. If you don’t apply, your chance drops to 0. Even if you get rejected, you are no worse off than if you never applied (except for a little bruise to your self esteem, maybe . . . but frankly I think not trying can give your esteem an even bigger bruise).

You should apply. 2.8 is a great GPA. It won’t get you into the Ivy League, but for most colleges it is fine.

(1) Rejection won’t hurt. It’s not fun, but if you truly want to avoid rejection, you won’t be able to achieve anything in life.
(2) Research the stats of the colleges you’re looking at. You should be able to get a good idea whether you are likely to be accepted or not. Also, talk to the guidance office at the community college. They should be able to give you a realistic assessment of how you compare to other transfers from your school.

Go for it! Like the above posters said, in case you are rejected, worst thing could happen is that things would not change. You can only earn more by applying.
