Im scared...

So at first I was really excited that I got an email from my admissions rep requesting a midyear report because i was like "yipee im at least boarderline", but now I am TOTALLY freaking out that my midyear has screwed my chances for admission...

Academic Classes...

AP English - A-
Honors Physics - C
AP Calc. AB - C
American Govt. - B+

I did however include an explanation earlier to admissions...my mom had a heart attack the day before my first finals, I spent more time with family that week than studying...so my finals grades were definitely not that hot

How much weight does the midyear report carry?

Am I totally screwed now?

i really don't know what the deal with mid years is...

i mean my friend got the request, got a 4.67 (full ib student) with the hardest course load, and got rejected. haha.

i doubt you're totally screwed though.. let's just wait it out :</p>

(Yay, it's 4 AM...can anyone tell I'm pulling an all-nighter?)

Anyway, midyear requests...hm. My personal theory about them is that they have really already decided on your acceptence in many cases, and just want some confirmation. Like, I had a friend accepted to Cornell, and they called guidance to check her midyears. She had a C, some Bs...but she still got accepted. I don't think your midyear report is going to be what makes or breaks you, unless you are completely failing.

They know we were all writing a bunch of essays and taking SATs and trying to keep up with studies all at the same time last fall. It just about killed me with 7 classes and my grades dropped a bit too....I like the idea that grade requests mean they might be about to accept us and just checking one last time....

I'm scared....about the results of my January exams. I'm pretty sure I bombed my biology papers and nuked the maths paper too.

I bombed AP Physics....ouch

I believe that the whole idea of mid-year reports is to make sure that the applicant has not slacked off after sending his/her application.
