I'm scheduling my visit so as to avoid Bulldog Days.. anyone else doing the same?

Hey guys,

I'm planning on visiting Yale soon, but I'm specifically planning my trip to avoid the Bulldog Days. I really want to see the college as it is "normally," - not when it's dressed up with 400 extra pre-frosh running around.

2 questions:

1) Does anyone else feel the same way about Bulldog Days.. or am I nuts? =)

2) Will Yale still put me up for a night in the dorms? I'd love to experience dorm life...

Thanks!

Yale will put you up for a night in a dorm - just make sure you give Admissions a call.

I think going to Bulldog Days is a good idea, though - all the panels they have should be informative (study abroad, residential life, freshman experience, etc.).

As a current Yale student, I actually think that is a very good decision. Bulldog Days does not really give you an accurate portrayal of Yale. If you know for sure that you want to go to Yale, then by all means go to Bulldog Days, but if you are trying to make a decision between Yale and someplace else, then visiting at another time is going to give you a better impression of the school. I was really disappointed with Bulldog Days and after trudging back and forth between Arizona and east coast schools last April, my visit to Yale was my least favorite. I still felt, however, that Yale was the best fit for me despite my Bulldog Days experience.

Don't worry about Yale putting you up, they do it all the time, and since you have been expected, they are going to bend over backwards to accomodate you.

I suppose that's somewhat correct, although this...

...applies to me. That's essentially why I'm going. I think you'll get a good feel for the campus either way, though.

Thanks for the insight chasgoose2.

I too am flying all the way out from Arizona (it's not going to be cheap!). The plan is to hit 4 colleges in a row and spend 1 night at each... hopefully the decision will be clearer when it's all over....
