Did anyone else have trouble finishing the math sections? I finished all the verbal sections in 10 or 15 minutes, but I had to rush to get to the end of the math problems. I have a habit of making stupid mistakes, so I go through each problem slowly and methodically to make sure that I'm not missing part of the question, leaving out a negative sign, or some other preventable error.

It's not that I don't know the math; I just can't work that quickly and be sure that I'm not messing up. Does anyone know how to improve this and increase my speed?

I think I left at least two or three blank on each section, but I probably messed up on a few that I wouldn't have if I hadn't been rushing. I made the mistake of not timing my practice test, so I was completely unprepared for how little 25 minutes actually is. I'm ordering the official study guide, though, so hopefully I'll get better through practice.

Unless you are planning on attending MIT or Caltech, you don't need to finish all the problems in the math section to get a solid score. If you practice the math sections, you will get a good idea of which problems to attempt, and which to just skip. Practice, analyse your errors, and practice again. Remember its the number you get right, not the number that you complete that matters.

You may want to practice taking math sections with not time limit at first, and then imposing a time limit that you shorten as the time comes closer to the real test.

i'm actually much much faster at math than at reading...I think what helps is if you practice a lot.
i didn't practice specifically for the SAT math, but I used to do math worksheets (Asian parents, what can I say?)
perhaps you may want to practice on real SATs to get a feel for how fast you have to move
