I just got my May 2009 SAT score in the mail and it's a 2140, with 680 crit, 770 math, and 690 writing. I just wanted to tell a lot of people and figured this was the best place to do that.

But on a more serious note, and i mean this genuinely (as compared to those people that post high scores and ask opinions on a retake simply to bolster their own complacency), should i retake this? I told myself if i broke a 2100 I wouldn't retake it, but now I'm thinking to myself that I may be able to do better than a 2140.

It would be great if I got a higher score, but if I get a lower one, will the fact that I attempted it twice be worse than being on the mark with a 2140 in one attempt?

Sincere replies are appreciated, moron replies I shall disregard.

And you should be happy! Nice score! 2100 is a pretty magic number to break.
I would actually consider retaking it because who knows? If you saw on your score report, collegeboard gives you a score range which you should take a look, it’ll show you that you’ll most likely score higher on a second time.
Personally, unless you score 2200 or above, you should always try a second time just to see!

These are great scores! But if you’re applying to Top 20 schools I’m sure you’d be even happier and more confident with CR and Writing scores being >700. Many, many people have super high math scores and lower CR and writing scores, but a lot of colleges see CR as being the most important. It’s up to you and it totally depends on the colleges you’re applying to—with those scores, you’d be a shoe-in for probably 95% of four year universities/colleges in the U.S. Congratulations!

jamiroqual - maybe 2140 is at the lower and of the average scores of Harvard,Princeton,Yale,Stanford ,but it is a great ,great score for top schools like Upenn,Cornell,Dartmouth,Brown …
Especially Upenn that is considered business school and considers math to be the most important !!!I am really hoping to break 2100 this time after 1770 in January

Haha He can brag as much as he wants. He deserved that right.GO score 2000+ and the start bragging (if u want to ) As far as this is a free forum and everybody can share his score,he is free to do so !

I don’t have to brag about my accomplishments. It’s dumb and makes everyone dislike you for who you are. I know people who got a wayyy higher score, but they’re humble. :)

It’s one thing to be proud of your score, it’s another thing to brag. I know many people who have scored 2300+ who do not feel the need to brag. There is something wrong with you when you feel the need to reaffirm your intelligence.

Hmm, it depends. To get the points, you must fullfill all thse obligations:

Must be a gay man

Must be black, with undertones of Native American and Hispanic

Must have no legs (No feet does not qualify)

You middle name MUST have have a “g” in it. "Y"s are also acceptable

Must have a cat named Rufus Quintus Maximus the Third.

If you fall into all these catagories, you get an above 2400 score on the SATs. Good luck.
