I'M SO SCARED. Can one bad grade kill my chances?

I got a D in honors Algebra 2 first semester sophomore year I cried and was depressed for a month :/

I had
AP Art History
AP Euro
English, Spanish 2, Chemistry, and Algebra 2 (all of them honors)
and got all A's and an A- in euro and art history.

I switched to regular algebra 2 and got a solid A so I am getting straight A's 2nd semester(:

my GPA was 4.3 and like 3.679I'm not sure about that one)

I also have many extracurriculars and am VP of three clubs, am in tennis and swim, and hundreds of hours of community service along with a business internship.

do you have a good reason ?

Try taking a math-related community college course to “make up” for the D grade. That’s what my friend did (he got a D in chemistry honors sophomore year) and he got into Irvine this year.

If you’re going to freak out over one grade, you shouldn’t deserve a spot at any UC. In fact your pretty much one of the same old same old BORING applicants who apply to the UCs. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you’re an idiot if you felt depressed about getting a frigging D on a single test. I’ve lived in Africa for 3/4 of my life, and i see kids who are full of joy, and yet they do not have any parents, clothing, water, shelter, they do not have any education, have to either beg or look in a trash can for food so that they can survive for the day, and they don’t even cry about it… and then you get a dumb-ass, like yourself who falls depressed about getting a D… What an idiot.

Dude wow chill iamtheironman, my friend AJwants2go2USC actually came to America from South Africa 5 years ago. He was homeless there but given a chance by some humanitarian effort and he lost his parents at a very early age. He’s been living without water or housing and he was given the opportunity for an education. He’s depressed because he took that for granted and he feels like he failed the people who brought him here. He deserves to be able to cry. He’s so smart man… He’s my hero.

My point being if you missed it… You really don’t know, you may think you do but you really don’t.

you’re an idiot iamtheironman for picking a fight that you can’t even win.

Wow Zairair, some humanitarian effort actually gave him a chance, wow… seems like you’ve never been to Africa, things like that don’t just happen, especially in places like South Africa… If he came from somewhere like Zimbabwe, Somalia, Nigeria, Rwanda and was “saved” from some couple i’d actually believe you.

I agree with jmk7, see if there is a way to make up for that grade. And yes, was there a reason for getting a D for the semester? Or was it just too hard?

And as for the negative comment, please ignore it. That kind of post does not deserve the attention that it is receiving right now.

He came from Somalia and Nigeria too, he was homeless in all those places actually. He was lucky, it happened! Just believe me.

You’re fine. You retook the class and got an A — they recognize courses that have been retaken. Did you mention your new grade to Irvine? Did you write it on your UC application/ Did you call the school to verify they have your new Algebra 2 grade?

Oh ****, the only possible solution is to fake your own death and move to another school and just start over

^ He clearly stated he is retaking the Algebra course at the non honors level and getting A’s. That’s fine. I don’t see why he is F’ed.

I don’t know what the hell happened but thanks for the responses :] well most LOL

I find it funny that ■■■■■■ exist even in college boards
