thanks, again. i'm sorry - i know these are annoying, and i, too, just view them to see how i fair compared to others, but really...i'd appreciate your 2 cents.

I am just replying cause I'm bored and still up.

Anywho, let me tell you that there is no way any person can ACCURATELY chance you. For most, if not all, of the applicants to TOP (HYPS) schools, the deciding factors are the essays, recs, and E/Cs.

For you, this is the case: your grades, scores, and rank is certainly good enough. So write personable essays, get amazing recs, and elaborate on your E/Cs and you have a good shot. But for people to go to the chance thread to say: "You have little chance" or "you are in," that's just BS. There is no way to know whether you are in or not without your recs and essays. That's why colleges require them...

rant over... :P

thanks, dizzy. that was really helpful - take notes other members on cc!!!

but that kind of makes me really nervous to know that there is NO SURE WAY. aaahhh...scared again. i know i'm straddling on the border.

oh, andbecause i'm a big pumpkin eater, i peaked on my teacher's recc (she didn't fold it in half or put it in an envelope!!!). some she checked the "top i've encountered in my entire career," and some not so much (apparently, my confidence is just "good"). but she's my ap english lit teacher, so the letter itself was a "verbal blowjob"

again, thanks dizzy. others, i want your opinions!!!!

mm i dont know...u seem really strong..but nobody cant say for sure accepted or rejected ..to which other colleges are u applying?

yale is a reach and my hardest. i'm applying to columbia, penn, stanford, hopkins, washu, wellesley, and nyu. because i'm from virginia, it's a given i'm applying to w&m and uva.

also, because i'm from va, i'm pretty much a shoo-in for w&m and uva (as arrogant as that sounds. being in-state is truly a plus).

thanks for your feedback, for the two of you. really, anything helps.

Very good chance ONLY if recs, essays are good.

does it help that i'm from rural virginia? like, really rural. there's a cow when i walk out the door.

also, where is everyone else applying to? i just want to know the alternatives yale-wannabes are looking at.

Like the other guy said, your scores and rank are good enough, but it's up in the air. Personally, your ECs don't seem that impressive, but if you're an URM and first generation and from a rural area, that will help. It's probably gonna come down to your essays and recs...but that's just my opinion

thanks danny boy

well because u asked dear felllow i have applied to yale(deffered) and now i did in amherst, princeton, smith

yeah, a lot of other yale applicants choose good liberal arts colleges, too...best of luck, joinmeindeath (felt weird typing your name)

just a note...i was a pumpkin eater and i peeked on my teacher's rec.
i have to say, a verbal fellatio if there ever was one. and yes, i cried :'-)

Yale '11 here. Korean as well, but a male. I happen to be from Northern California. I definitely approve of your verbal fellatio, that brought a smile to my sick day :/. Just so you know, most your scores are better than mine. Well my SAT IIs included six subjects and my AP scores were better. That is until I got into Yale I got a 1 on two of my 12 tests :P. Not like AP scores really matter once you're at Yale ... :(. You definitely have a good shot, but really what sets you apart from the "standard" Korean / Asian? That's what I've noticed in most at Yale, they aren't what you would characterize as anything close to the stereotype ('less you be direct from the country). If anything that might hurt it's your class rank :/. I think that's one thing that definitely helped me out academic wise.

You should have a really good shot, but show them something that any standard "Korean girl" from VA can't. I actually know one at Yale :P, that is a Korean girl from VA. But hey with the schools you're applying to you'll end up at a great one regardless!

Just so you know how unpredictable college admission to top tier schools is, your list of schools you're applying to : Columbia (didn't apply), Penn (waitlisted, rejected), Stanford (accepted), hopkins (waitlisted, rejected), washu (didn't apply), wellesley (would if I could), and nyu (accepted).

You should give a shot at applying and a thought to Dartmouth and Princeton. Anyways, best of luck (skill)!

lol, thanks joecool866. i didn't think you'd apply to wellesley.
yale, but not hopkins?? that really is unpredictable! but really, i appreciate your comments. hahaha i'm not preppy enough for princeton. i'm not sure how i separate myself from the "standard korean." i am from a hippie family in the appalachians and i'm more vulgar than my korean counterparts (no qualms about using words like fellatio). i write for the newspaper, and i decided for some reason to attach one of my articles that got me in trouble...it was just dripping with sexual innuendos. maybe that might separate me from the herd? anyways, thanks!!!!!!! :-))

You have a really good chance at getting in, but as everyone else said, you are more to colleges than just numbers. They want to see what type of person you are via essays, teacher recs, and interview.
Off topic now...it's really weird that you got a higher score on Math 2 than Math 1...I think it might be because you can't add lol. JK! But fyi, 790+800+720=2310. I only noticed cause that's the same as me (if you move 10 pts from W to CR.) :)

that was a typo. i got a 730 on writing. my bad...good eye, though.

also, i think math i concentrates more on abstract math, whereas math ii is strictly plugging in numbers. thanks for you input, h5n1! :-)
