I'm so worried, what are my chances

Anybody have any input on my chances.

I go to a magnet school that doesn't rank so I have a 3.97 GPA for 6 semesters (1 B freshman year). My Test Scores weren't very strong though, I took the SAT Twice, 760M, 600CR, 660WR, and the second time I took it I got 740M, 680CR, 600WR, which totally sucked. So I guess my highest scores were , 760M, 680CR, and 660WR.... I have a 32 ACT, My SAT II's were 760 Math and 750 Chem. I thought my essays were pretty good, I had my college counsellor proof read em and she liked em. For extracirriculars I have been doing Cross Country and Track each since 8th grade and and been captains of both teams. Got good rec's from my language teacher who i had for 4 years, my chem teacher who i had for 2 years (and am now doing an indep. study with), and did the optional one with my cross/track coach. Also I've had 2 jobs, both relating to Engineering with the local state University.

I applied early, do I have ANY chance???

Not good man... not good...

I wouldn't say you don't have any shot - the test scores are your weakest area but if your essays were fantastic and your recs were good as well, stranger things have happened. Don't count yourself out.

Good luck!

I agree with Gopsy. I mean, I wouldn't even fathom your chances being above 13%. To Stanford, that B screams Berkeley.... : (

Its a freshman year B. For Stanford you have a 4.0.

Doesn't Stanford exclude freshman grades?

"To Stanford, that B screams Berkeley.... : ("

I hope you are not serious. I am sure not everyone who is accepted to Stanford has perfect 4.0.

i hope not :(
i got a b and a half my junior year.

dude, you just sound so depressed...... now I feel it's obligatory for me to reply to a chances thread (first time ever! I don't reply on principle, anyway)

nobody can tell your chances without seeing your app folder--everything, essays, activities, recs, transcript. and now, everybody is starting to take Ashveer's sarcasm/humor seriously. chill! okay, maybe not literally, New England is kinda cold right now. but relaxxxxxx for the last couple days of freedom--freedom from knowledge of knowing where you're gonna go next year. go read a book. heck, go do homework. go party. go see a movie. go to a concert! forget stanford. the cardinals needn't bother you for a couple more days at the least. deal?

thanks man, that is a good idea

Cortigiana is a God among men.

hahahaha now that proves God is really a woman. Or a girl =)

Q.E.D.

lol I agree with cortigiana. not everyone who gets into Stanford has a 4.0 and they don't count freshman year grades :)

hahahah "that B screams Berkeley"...wow
that line was golden

ACT score of 32 is pretty good and it would make up for SAT test score. Also, you never know whether you will get in or not. Some with really good rec can get rejected, some with bad rec can get in.

wait getting a B totally shuts out youre chances?

man im in trouble.

can you analyze my chances? haha... sorry... but i'm stressing.

SAT: 2280 (800 Writing, 750 Critical Reading, 730 Math)
SATII: 760 (Math 2), 730 (Literature), 710 (US History)
Extracurriculars: Senior Class President, member of Contra Costa Childrens Chorus (toured to Italy and sang at St.Peter's Basilica last summer), Junior Class Historian, Sophomore Class Vice President
Honors/Awards: National Honor Society, National Merit Semifinalist (i had to take it the day after surgery and missed CA's cutoff by one point! dang!)
Work Experience: Tutor (Kumon Math and Reading Center, 2.5 years), Shift Manager (Coldstone Creamery, March 2005-present)
Rank: 8/75 (so i screwed myself over Freshmen year...)
Other: I have a rare (and sometimes fatal) lung disease called Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis. I was diagnosed at Stanford Medical Center in Fall 2004. Chances of getting this disease are one in a million (literally!). I am sometimes dependent on an oxygen tank.
GPA: I've forgotten if Stanford counts freshmen year or not.... With freshmen year: 3.8 . Without freshmen year: 4.0

Did you not read the thread? Look back at corti's post...

no need to be hostile....

haha I don't sense any hostility. just slight annoyance. it's ok just read :p
