Anticipating great Recs.

My dad Attended Duke

I want to apply ED definitely

Thank you so so so much in advanced!

Your test scores and GPA could be a little higher, but the fact that your dad went to Duke will help you out. Try taking the SAT as well as the ACT. Some say that the ACT is easier, but I personally scored higher on the SAT. Also, make sure that your counselor notes that you took the hardest curriculm possible for your school and that your school doesn't offer AP or IB. Applying ED is a good choice, because I'm pretty sure Duke admits a big hunk of the class from that pool. Good luck!

I think you're sort of borderline because of the low test scores. The good EC's and legacy could get you in though.

You will get in. If you can hit 30 on the ACT you will definitely get in. Excellent grades, decent extracurriculars, legacy. Good luck and don't worry!

nothing is definite. don't but all your eggs in one basket....

i'm also from illinois and for some reason i think i remember that duke wont accept ACT scores from the PSAE, so make sure you participate in a national testing day. also, if you're accustomed to the ACT, which is the dominate test in the midwest, just stick with it rather than switching to the SAT

Duke accepts ACT scores and I took it on a national testing day. Does anyone have any advice for me? is there anything I can do that can help me out? any advice? Duke has been my top choice practically since I was born. thanks so much to everyone who has responded!

get straight As senior year, jeremy. and aim for a 30+ ACT. if you do that you will be fine

actually, you are fine. no problem. you will get in. if you don't i will be extremely surprised.
