I'm sorry but I need help on this

I posted a question on the thread "List of colleges with ED,EA " but I'm still confused. So I need a clear answer on this. Spare me for annoying you guys. I'm new to US :D
The DEADLINE for applying to college is the beginning or the end of the admission process. It sounds stupid but, according to CB :
Regular application deadline: 15-JAN
Early decision deadline: 01-NOV
So the admission will close after 15-JAN and 01-NOV ??? If so, when does the process begin ? The answer is extremely important to me because I didn't take the SAT yet :(

If you’re applying ED, you must submit your application BY November 1, and if you’re applying RD, you must submit your application BY January 15. So, if you’re applying ED, your last chance to take the SAT is October, and if you’re applying RD, your last chance to take the SAT is December. . . . Usually. Some colleges explicitly say on their websites that they do or do not accept the October/November/December SAT, so make sure you check with all of your schools before finalizing your plans.

The deadline is the end. The process begins basically as early as you want it to..

thanks for your replies.
there’s one more thing: my friend told me to apply asap because the admission officers tend to work in such a way that if they see any qualifying applicant, they accept it. Is that true ?

Yeah, is that true?

It depends on the school. Read the websites. If it’s rolling admissions, that may be true (although some schools have their start date posted), but for other types of admissions it is not true at all. Getting the application in early is always a good thing, but it’s not the deciding factor.

If you’re applying to a school with rolling admissions, getting your application in early is a very good thing. the school has more spots open, so they do take more students. They also have more merit scholarships and things to give out, so you’re more likely to get money :D.

if it’s not a rolling admissions, though (most schools aren’t), then it doesn’t matter when you get your application in, as long as it is before the deadline.

oh, and i’ll look for a list of schools with rolling admissions and post it here. i know that university of pittsburgh is rolling, as is UMichigan.

this is a list from 2007, so you may want to check up on your individual schools.

really, UMich offers rolling admission ?
