Im sorry...But please help me out

Hey guys I am very sorry to bug you but this is another one of those acceptance speeches. In short terms...Cornell is my absolute dream school. I would do whatever it takes to get in. Congrats on the acceptees and I am very envious.

First off I am applying to the Cals College as an enviromental major and a Chinese language minor. Unlike most people applying, my grades and Sats are definitely not up to par. While they're not extremely out of the question, the would be considered way low average.

GPA - 3.7 weighted ( Not weighted is not to much lower, like 3.4-3.5)
Sat I - 1820
(math 660) (reading 560) (writing 600)
SatII - Taking in October

5 Aps - European History, Enviromental science, Calculus, Physics, Comparative government.

Pretty sure letters will be good.

Extracurricular
This is what hopefully will set me apart. I have seen some kids with statistics similiar to mine but outstanding extracurricular. Between the ages of 10-14 my dad got a job in China and I lived there. As corny as it sounds, it opened my eyes up to environmental science. I vowed one day to live in China since I absolutely loved it. Therefore I decided these two interest would be perfect together. ( This is what I am writing my essay on by the way) I think most of my curriculars show this interest and I want Cornell to see how dedicated I am to this subject and the school.

*Money tight, had to hold a job working 15 hours a week during the school year at various places - Mcdonals, Saladworks, and Wawa
*Varsity Wrestling - 3 years and 3 letters
*Active member in class council - 3 years
*Piloting lessons - Obtained Junior Pilots licence (many hours)
*Wells College 21st century Leadership award

Things extra curricular concerning China essay

*See Green Club - 3 years
- President Senior year
*Envirothon - 2 years and came in 4th last year
*Community service - Much trash pick ups, at a thirft store called Nova, and an old folks home in 10th grade, 100s of hours.
*Currently taking lessons at Bucks County Community College for Chinese lessons.

I hope that my extracurriculars show that I am busy and my dedication. Please give me your honest opinion and I appreciate you taking the time so much. Thank you.

I forgot an extremely important thing. I attended a summer program at Penn State called the Conservation Leadersip School. All about conservating and leadership skills (hence the name) Thanks

I think you are going to have a tough time getting in. Your EC's are good but Cornell has to take students that it thinks will be able to survive the rigor of its academics. 3.7 weighted and a 1800 SAT score is pretty low by Cornell standards. I'll be the jack@$$ and I'm sure there'll be many more people who'll follow me saying that you have a shot, there's no harm in applying, and such.

Score higher in SAT to increase your chances. Reading is awfully low.

Hey, I'm Chinese, so keep up the good job!

But I do think Cornell does put more emphasis on tests and academic record than ECs, as college is a place to learn, after all. But I'm sure once you get you SATs to about 2100 and above you'll be able to get in (maybe take ACTs instead?). ED can help too.

Well I guess you can take the Chinese SAT 2. You took my idea of wat ur essay should be lol. And I have one question...if ur money tight how did you take piloting lessons??? Those are REALLY expensive! Your pure passions will surely set you apart, and hopefully for your sake it will be enough. I wish you the best of luck and try your heart out senior year to improve ur gpa, rank, and SATs. (Take the SATs 3 times if u can and try out the ACT as well as my recommendation)

bump .
