<p>AA is not reverse racism, but it is legally sanction reverse racial discrimination. If someone is preferred because of thier race, it logically follows that someone is dispreferred because of there race. The university doesn't dispute this argument; the university argues that campus diversity is worth discriminating against people based on thier race.</p>

<p>African Americans still have trouble renting apartments, and getting jobs. They don't have access to equal education. Their medical care is inferior. They still get pulled over by traffic cops for no other reason other than they are Black. They still get shot at by crazy policemen. They are in jail for offenses that white people don't go to jail for.</p>

You don't see how they are exploited economically? You don't see their inferior health care? You don't see how they are treated at schools? You don't see them waiting at street corners, hoping to get picked up so they can work that day?</p>

You can't assume that because you see a statistic or a movie that that experience is uniform for every member of a racial group. Does every white person live in a mansion in a suburb. No. In fact, the majority of poor people in this country are white. Some of those folks have trouble renting apartment, have inferior education and healthcare etc. Yet their travails don't pull on the heartstrings of admission counselors as much as a upper-middle class kid from the suburbs does. Explain to me how that is fair.</p>

I was watching a movie in government the other day about race. It showed how blacks who immigrate to this country with nothing do much better than blacks already living here. Why. They both are of the same skin color and experience the same racism? the movie went on to interview many and all immigrants said that in africa there is no welfare, or AA to help people. You have to fight for who you are and what you earn. So when they immigrate here, they do not rely on AA programs or welfare, but fight to achieve their goals. however, many african americans already living here rely so heavily on these types of programs that they think that they are not capable of doing better.</p>
<p>I feel AA has served its purpose but it needs to be abolished now as it can not remain implemented forever. AA has done a lot to bring down the gap between races, but can not further close this gap as AA is now starting to cause minorities to rely on the system and not try as hard. we as a country need to get over the past, get over the institution of slavery that happened long ago and stop dwelling in the past. It is more of a favor to minorities to abolish AA then to keep it. It will cause them to be respected more in society as society will not say, "o the only reason he got in was cause he was a token" and will help minorities get better work habits for future as they will become independent people not dependent on outside help or others to spoon feed them. This is coming from a minority who believes AA should be abolished.</p>

We're exploited economically because we're poor immigrants, not because we're hispanic. Poor immigrants are always exploited, even <em>gasp</em> the Asians (who do you think built just about every railroad in California during the early 1900s?)</p>

Poor communities have bad schools; that's how it is. Arnold's not sitting there saying, "Jeez, let's cut funding to all hispanic schools. That'll teach them a lesson." Schools are supported by taxes. Taxes go farther in districts where people have money to tax. This is also economics, pal.</p>
