I'm sorry this is another ED chance thread... but please help!

I've been interested in Cornell for a very long time, and I'm considering applying early. Advices and comments woult be highly appreciated!!

My stats are:

SAT Verbal 630, Math 790 Writing 670.
My English scores are not strong at all, although English is not my first language. I will be retaking the test, and I hope I will get above 700 in all three sections.

SATII - MathIIC 800, Japanese 800, lowest is 740.
Unweighted GPA: 3.98, weighted 4.45.

Not an US citizen. Lived in China and Japan, fluent in Chinese and Japanese. Planning to study more languages. Lived in the U.S. for 4 years.

Not many AP classes; I've only taken 3. Got 5 on all 3 of them. Also, I haven't taken as many honors classes as my school has to offer. (All my friends have taken like 15.) I've only taken 5 in fact. But I'm taking more next year, with 4 AP classes and 1 honor.

3 A+ in Junior year, one in AP chem, one in Hon pre-cal, and one in Lv1 French 1 (just starting French). School is public, but pretty competitive in the area. Each year, about 5 to 10 out of 400 students get into Harvard.

Some community service, but not much leadership. No sports, no music:

2 years of TA at local Chinese school (including award for good service)
hospital aid and office aid at an hospital (2 years; including award for good service)
Volunteer at Children's summer program (30 hrs)
4 years of Culture Club, going to be secretary in September
NHS - booksale, peer tutoring; Math team; Amnesty international
into arts, drawings were shown in BC, local art society, and Japanese newspaper (although all of those drawings were never given back to me and I can't make a portfolio out of them); drawing was used as cover of Student Directory

Awards:
Certificate of Honor on the National French Contest
National Honor Roll; PSAT high scorer; Who's who among high school students; Who's who's scholarship semi-finalist; The national society of high school scholars, Student award in English as a Second Language

Work experience: babysitting, tutoring (not much though)

Harvard summer school this summer.

Not very good at writing... (don't know what will happen with the essays or the recommendations)

I used to play the flute and French horn, but I was never in the band or anything... so I guess I can't really put that onto my resume... >.<;;;...

What do you guys think? Also, do you think improving my SAT scores to above 700s will help me a lot? Thank you!

have you looked at penn's hunstman program? i think you would have a very good shot at their japanese program.

i think you need to go balls out with the language/math stuff.

yes raising the sat's will help (about as much as solid essayd/recs)

You seem very well rounded but you're not very confident about your writing/reading. I'd suggest working hard starting now to write good essays and study for your CR/W for SAT's. As soon as school starts, make an effort to strengthen relationships w/ the teachers you'll be getting rec's from. Best of luck!

Do you think I would have a better chance of getting in if I applied to the School of Engineering? I'm debating between AS and Engineering...

Will the fact that I speak 3 languages help me at all?

I speak three languages as well and these days it's not a huge hook... unfortunately...

If you apply to engineering, the fact that you're multilingual won't do much I don't think

ahh I see... I guess I should rethink of my chances...
