I'm sort of confused...3 of my 10 colleges aren't coming up on collegeboard

Hendrix, Sewanee and Case Western aren't pulling up on the FAFSA.

When I check each college's website, they say to fill out the FAFSA form and give their code number....I use their code number, but nothing comes up...I try to type in the name of each school and nothing comes up.

I'm confused.

Are you talking about the Collegeboard (which is Profile) or the FAFSA?

Probably CSS. None of those schools are Profile schools.

OP, not all schools require the Profile. OTOH, all schools (with a few religious exceptions) require the FAFSA.

lllklll...the College Board does NOT administer the FAFSA. It administers the CSS Profile which, as Kelsmom pointed out, is not required by all colleges. AND the FAFSA code won't work there anyway. The fafsa can be found by going to the FAFSA.gov site and looking there. It's free. The FAFSA codes can be used there AND you can search by school also.

As Kelsmom said...if you are looking for schools that do not require the Profile on the CollegeBoard site, you will not find them there. The Profile is not required for the schools you listed BUT the FAFSA IS REQUIRED.

Ok, we filled out the CSS on college board. That included the FAFSA, right? So we should be good to go for those 7 schools. The 3 that don't use CSS can be done on the FAFSA website?

Alright, thanks for the help.

NO. CSS does not include FAFSA. You will have to file FAFSA for all 10 of the schools.

CSS and FAFSA are 2 completely different animals. CSS is done by collegeboard and you have to pay for it. FAFSA is a federal form and is free. Completing one does not complete the other.

Wow...ok. It is VERY good I decided to make this thread and you guys answered. Otherwise...well, otherwise I would probably have to take a gap year, lol.

I'm adding all of my schools to FAFSA right now.

But this makes me wonder what the point of the CSS is?

FAFSA is for Federal funds, while the CSS Profile is for Institutional funds. There are differences in the information they ask for, for instance FAFSA doesn't ask for equity on your primary home while the Profile does. Also, while the FAFSA EFC is the same for all colleges you apply to, schools can and do use the information provided in the Profile differently,so the Profile EFC will often vary between schools.

You got the answer. You need to do the FAFSA for ALL of your schools. BUT you have to do it for the three schools that do NOT require Profile and you knew that. All you will need to do is list the other schools as well. It doesn't take any more time to submit the FAFSA to one school as to ten...but you HAVE TO DO IT.

P.S. The school codes you used for the Profile are NOT the same as for the FAFSA. You can either look on the school websites for the FAFSA numbers or you can search by school when you are adding schools while completing the FAFSA.

^ I searched using the FAFSA website, so my codes were correct.

Thanks everyone.
