I'm Starting to second guess everything...HELP!

Hi,
I keep looking at all of these great colleges, and as I prepare to shorten my list, I'm starting to second guess everything..HELP!
I live in Michigan and am interested in the Sciences. That being said, I'd need Merit $$$ to go out of state. Every college I look at seems to have a decent Science dept. I think I'd fit better with medium to smaller class sizes, but U of M and MSU are large. I have this list and don't know if I'm missing the boat on other colleges that would be a great fit. Also, what is greek life, and is it a good idea?
Okay, here's a little background info...
GPA 3.98
FORD Model
Varsity Cheer and Track, (Scholar Athlete all yrs.)
Key, German, NHS
ACT 29
Here's a list of colleges that I basically pulled out of a hat
U of Mich.
MSU
Northwestern
Loyola
UNC-Chapel Hill
USC-Columbia
Unversity of Miami (Ohio)
Any other suggestions??? Personal opinions on Albion and Kalamazoo?
Thanks so much!

You are correct that sciences in general are very good at almost any Top 150 school.

Your GPA and SAT are very strong for all schools listed except Northwestern, where the ACT ave is 31 or so last I checked.

You don't mention if you are URM (african american, hispanic/chicano, Native American). That boosts all stats at least 10%.

If you are URM, then Northwestern is a good slight reach for you, Michigan a match.

Why do you want to go OOS? Are you anticipating good merit scholarship money? Actually your stats might qualify you for that.

Once you open the possibility of OOS, based on your stats, you should look at ALL the National Universities ranked about 12-40, and all the LAC ranked around 8-25. Then and ask yourself what size, and geography you want. Your stats should get you into more than half of those schools if you are URM, and about 25% of them if you are not.

Hi!
I'm a white female. Yes, you're correct, OOS merit $ would definitely be a bonus! I don't think I have the opportunity for much merit $ at U of M...
Do you think I have a chance of getting in there?
If I understand you correctly, my chances of getting into colleges ranked 12-40 is about %25?
I look forward to hearing from you!

I would love to be in sate for U of M... yea its big but that should not really be a big factor... in my opinion.

bcinderella --

Your stats are strong. 12-40 is a huge range actually ... let me try to be more specific:

12-20: 20%
20-30: 35% for Out of State
20-30 in state = Michigan, >50% and higher if you apply early in the rolling admissions
30-50: 50%

20% is high enough that if you catch an adcom on a good day, or your essay happens to connect strongly with the reader, you're in.

Thank you DunninLA,
I've been in the news re: my leadership project with Children's Hospital, and my modeling career is unique...however, it's a bit difficult to express that in my apps. I am hoping U of M is a sure thing, but perhaps I'm wrong...

As far as MSU goes, look into Lyman briggs college for science majors. It is a residential college which allows for smaller class sizes, no teaching assistants, within its courses etc. There are numerous other benefits but the website will be able to explain it better than I can
